I saw the interview on the Today Show and I saw how Matt keep asking the question over and over. After the Presidennt said what he said, I knew that he would get hammer by the Democrats. I knew right away what the President meant when he said the war can not be won but I knew it wouldn't be cleared to regular people.

Did he flip flop....."No".

I do find it interesting that this fellow brings up flip-floppin within 3 minutes of the time the Kerry folks come out with a similar press release.

I pondered that as I fell asleep. It seems odd for a person that "in the know" to sign up, lurk for a month and then shoot his wad like that. Really bizarre. I wonder which of his higher ups that was that seems to be losing it.

Winning the war on terror is like winning the war on crime, drugs, violence. I believe that is what Bush meant. But does that mean that we will lay down and give up? Never. By the way, just joined FreeRepublic today...love this place!

"So Kerry isn't the only one who flip-flops?"

No flip-flop at all. As one poster noted, terrorism will always be with us.
We can keep it on the defensive, but as long as there is Islam, there will be terrorists.

sadly this is different from the cold war. atheists without real property rights don't fight with nearly the same conviction as a religious extremist, with or without property rights.

Winning the war on terror is like winning the war on crime, drugs, violence.

Oh boy, that means that terrorism will become a growing part of our lives. Just like the aforementioned entities. Be a good boy, bind over and get used to it.

We don't have to cover up for either party any more. In the light of Bush saying that Chechnya elections were UNFAIR it is NOT a coincidence that both Kosovo and Iraq wars took down Wahhabi-HATING governments. Iraq goes radical Islam. Christians and Moderate Muslims are chased out and killed. I'd say this drive to radicalize the Muslims is no coincidence. The Radicals are not being contained, they are beeing helped!

Izr2hammer, if you plan on repeating doublespeak-media-stereotypes you won't get far. Start thinking now. Some research on Radical Islam may be a big help too...

BTW, Welcome to FR, it's nice to have you here. Don't let the straight talk bother you.

"Moderate Muslims"

Now there is an oxymoron!
"Moderates" as like those condemning the savage killing done in the name of 'Allah'
Name one Muslim leader that has condemned any of these terrorist attacks.
A Muslim is 'moderate'when he knows he cannot win
As Churchill said about the Germans
'They are either at your feet or your throat'

Actually you agree with me. We are no killing Germans now, just keep Hitler types and ideas away from them. But why Saudi is still in the hands of a murderous Nazi-Islamists? Why no one is outraged at their ideology, why there is no push to relinquish it? It's tragic that one of the best examples is Saddam. He managed to put Radical Islam down and keep it that way. He did a lot nasty things too, but that is more important now. Another example is Turkey - slowly radicalizing now. If you refuse the Muslims the escape of Moderate Islam, you will make them all radical. So give it to them and push them there. Just like the Germans. It's not hard to do, but there is something very fishy in the whole story.

Yes I do agree that Islam can be MADE to be peaceful when it sees that it cannot win the world through force or intimdation.
As for the Saudi's I do hope that their reign is soon going to be dealt with.
Your example of Turkey is a good one.
