The security force helping to protect President George W. Bush spotted marijuana growing behind a Romulus home on Tuesday, according to Local 4 reports.
A Michigan State Police helicopter was hovering over the area of Bush's motorcade when the pilots reportedly spotted the illegal substance in the back yard of the home.
"When they were going into the airport, they flew over a subdivision just outside the airport grounds and observed what they believed to be marijuana plants growing in the back yard," said Jacob Liss, state trooper.
Two men at the home apparently heard the chopper above and attempted to rid of the evidence, Local 4 reported.
"They went outside and started pulling the marijuana plants from the ground and then jumped the fence and tried to throw them in the creek that was located behind the house," said Liss.
Liss was radioed by the pilots to raid the house. He said he arrived to find two dogs guarding the area where the pot plants were believed to be growing, Local 4 reported.
"There (were) roughly eight plants at the house ranging anywhere from 6 feet in height to 8 feet in height," said Liss.
One man reportedly fled the home and escaped police. The other man was arrested and faces charges of cultivating marijuana, a federal offense.
obviously a democrat ran small business venture.
The Eye in the Sky and Big Brother all in one. Yikes, what is this country coming to?
Note to self: Don't grow marijuna in the backyard while living in an election battleground state.
"obviously a democrat ran small business venture."
Yep. Everyone knows that only Democrats smoke dope...

Actually, I give the dopeheads credit - under DTW's controlled airspace it wouldn't be likely to have been seen from the air. It was our good luck that the police helicopter was cleared into the airspace for surveillance, not just to land.
Gosh, I feel so much safer now.
Bush's fault.
Arrested for growing a plant. Dumb war on drugs.
Or on the flight path of an airport.
Yeah, you ARE right. It was actually a shrewd move on their part (if they even thought of that) to grow where normal surveillance flights would be restricted from flying on anything but an approach. Never mind my previous post.
Funny how we haven't heard word one at the Republican Convention about the War on Drugs. I'll take that as a tacit admission that while the socialist conservatives still want to waste money on it, they no longer consider that a source of pride.
