Dubya might have the power to make sweeping change to the Right if he wins by a large enough margin. A higher margin helps all Republican candidates who are not at the top of the ticket. And Dubya has alot of money. Dubya will have time and money to help Republican Senate candidates. And those Senators will be in debt to Dubya when legislation needs to be passed.
One of the themes of the convention was unity and bi-partisanship. Zell challenged his own party. If Dubya wins big in Nov we can expect a lot more cooperation from 'rats and RINOs who want to be re-elected in 2006.
With more Republican Senators, the power of Spectre, Collins, Snow, and Chafee will diminish. RINOs are only powerful if they can stop legislation.
