Salon: '60 Minutes' to Feature Man Questioning Bush Service.
September 01, 2004, 17:56:35 EDT Over at Salon, Eric Boehlert reports that CBS has already taped an interview with Ben Barnes, a former Texas Democratic politician who currently is a fund-raiser for Democrat John Kerry, who says he helped George W. Bush evade the Vietnam draft during 1970s by getting him into the national guard. The article does not say if CBS interviewed any of John Kerry's critics, including members of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Reached last week, a spokesman for the group told RatherBiased.com that CBS had not been interested in interviewing its members. Update 21:03, SBVT spokesman John O'Neill confirms CBS still has not contacted his group since last week.

Barnes is currently a chairman of the Democratic party to elect Kerry in his state and works openly nationally. His accounting tonight is a 180 from what he gave under oath years ago. What's more his accounting of helping George W. get into the guard to avoid service in Viet Nam, HAS BEEN SOUNDLY REFUTED BY NONE OTHER THAN THE L. A. TIMES IN 2000.
CBS has expressed no interest in interviewing the Swiftboat Vets.
I think we should organize a rebuttal to 60 minutes show by mailing CBS and others, including Drudge to correct this true slander.

'Texans for Truth' /MoveOn.org 527 has also started buying TV time, according to the LA Times this morning.. (150k-250k worth)
Sharpstown Scandal, Sharpstown Scandal, Sharpstown Scandal.......
Ben Barnes is the third largest contributor to the Kerry Campaign. He's impartial, yea.
Barnes, from what I've heard, readily admitted that no one associated with Bush pulled any strings to get him in the National Guard. There was no Papa Bush calling in favors, as Democrats will suggest.
Barnes took the initiative of getting the sons of powerful politicians into the National Guard so as to gather chits for himself, to advance his own power and influence.
That's damning of Barnes, and not at all damning of Bush.
Silly leftists.
Isn't it hilarious how McCain/Feingold, which was architected to silence everyone except elected politicians and the kneepad media has had just the opposite effect?
527s appear to be the best thing to happen to free speech since the First Amendment.
Bill O'Reilly pitched softballs to John O'Neill last night and actually promoted his book,
UNFIT FOR COMMAND
Should we be surprised that Rather is touting this. Word is he did the interview months ago and through a tantrum when they wouldn't run it on Sunday 60 minutes.

I saw a clip from one of the so called Texans for Truth ads. It really looks like a copycat of the SBVT ads. It looks like they're playing catch up or follow the leader.
They don't have the creative brain power to come up with an ad format of their own. This one almost exactly mimics the ad that's been dogging John Kerry, so they just copy the format and aim it at Bush. Yawn!
You are exactly right. I lived in Texas for 35 years and Barnes was groomed by the LBJ Democrats to be a BIG MAN. Suddenly he fell from grace and became the liner for the DNC garbage can. He did exactly what you said. What these slime are trying to do now is make up a story about Bush's service in the Guard and preferred treatment. Barnes has denied this bigtime in the past. The Begala crowd (Clinton bomb throwers) are trying to throw whatever they find in the dirt at W. They have nothing and the fraud must be exposed for what it is.
i think o reilly is convinced that there is something to their story. he tried to be as impartial as he could, but i think in his heart he believes the whole book including that Rassmann was mistaken about gun fire.
the average american, knows one thing. kerry is not the kind of leader if elected who would be respected, loved, admired or emulated. he is a coward, and an embarrassment for this country.

Hopefully O'Reilly will now get Barnes on his show, and if he's as phony as it seems he'll rip him to shreds.
that will happen when donkey's fly

lol! Oh, brilliantly stated. Would that the republicans had half the cods of Zell Miller!
Tonight, with Dan Rather on 60 Minutes II.
This is write up there in the "So What" department.
Besides, President Bush did not make his National Guard service the focus point of his campaign for re-election.
