I don't know who, if anyone, may be suing for kerry's records. Maybe Regnery could do it and then publish it as an affordable little glossy pamphlet, with an "internet edition" as well.

Actually it is indeed a blatant infringement of copyright and not at all suprising that it would be taken down. There is no legitimate "fair use" defense here.
It would seem that kerry's 'friends' have also hijacked the donating process for the Swift Boats Vets for Truth and are taking donations meant for the Vets and directing them towards the kerry campaign.

It is breathtakingly stunning to know that Kerry wrote this book, took it off the shelves, and REFUSES to discuss it or even 'own it' when it is HIS BOOK. And it is totally the stuff of propaganda, that the mainstream press hides this book from view, knowing it will HURT Kerry.
HECK---the very FACT that kerry and his attorney's try to SUPPRESS this book is FRONT PAGE NEWS. (If Bush had written something as horrendously anti-military as this...it would be known by EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN BY NOW !)
The book Kerry co-wrote, the one with the mock up of Iwo Jima and the upside down American flag being hoisted, is the key, imho, to exposing kerry fully and completely to the American people.
We deserve to have this book fully vetted on the national airwaves and john kerry needs to explain and defend his words in this book.
Especially the part where he describes his group, the VAVW, as NOT SUPPORTING ANY VETERANS of any WAR.
This book, had a republican candidate written it, would have been front page news, MONTHS AGO.
It is time to press this book and its horror into the hearts and minds of every American-if the major networks continue to protect john kerry, if ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR and PTN and 60 minutes continue to ROB the AMERICAN PEOPLE of the past actions of john kerry FORCING the Swift Boat Veterans and others who KNOW exactly what kerry has done to do THEIR WORK in informing the American people...then it might be time for an investigation of sorts to be done....an investigation the puts into LAW that all news organizations state upfront, on every broadcast, whether they are democrat, republican or an independent, non-partisan news cast.
I am tired of the major networks destroying American resolve in war time, giving one candidate TREMENDOUS BREAKS while trashing the one who does not represent their ideology.
Kerry's book.......THE NEW SOLDIER....should NOT BE ALLOWED to remain a secret, hidden by the major networks, so that the corrupt and treasonous nature of john kerry stays beneath the surface.
I AM SO TIRED THE MAJOR TELEVISION NETWORKS TRASHING OUR RIGHT TO KNOW BOTH SIDES.
If kerry regrets writing it, TOUGH TACOS, he did, and it reveals his lack of character and sets the stage for the votes he made as a senator.... votes that were always degrading to our military and sets the course for other actions, ie his refusal to attend intelligence briefings (part of his job that he DID NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY!)
We cannot let this man be our COMMANDER IN CHIEF. NO WAY.
President Bush should have a copy of this book that he can hold up at the debates, discussing the picture on the front, and some of the pathetic statements found within it, as well.
AMERICA DESERVES TO KNOW THEIR CANDIDATES!

I went to the US Copyright office's web site to read up on copyright expiration, but it's still a little murky. According to what I read, the original copyright on The New Soldier has expired, but the book was eligible for an automatic copyright renewal (like any other book from the same era). The renewals database contains no relevant entries under that title, or the authors "John Kerry", "Vietnam Vets Against The War", or "VVAW". However, the section on automatic renewals is vague enough to me that I am unsure if it had to be registered with the copyright office to get the extension.
