Feinstein pushes Bush on assault weapon ban
The Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/9/04 | David Whitney

WASHINGTON - Sen. Dianne Feinstein pleaded with President Bush on Wednesday to press Congress into renewing the 10-year-old ban on assault weapons and then blamed the National Rifle Association for orchestrating the ban's nearly certain expiration at midnight Monday.

Don't you love it? It was a just day or two for Kerry to pump himself up as a phony 2nd Amendment supporter and Diane smacked him right into forehead.

MEMO:

TO: DIFI

FM: President Bush

RE: AWB

Hi toots,

Thank you for your recent communication regarding the AWB. Gee, I tried, really, I tried, but those rascally Senators just didn't do anything about it. Well, that's politics. Anyway, I've got an election to win for the moment, and it's tough, what with phony charges and faked documents and all. But after I win, can I count on your support on judicial appointments?

Yer Friend,

PRESIDENT Bush

I hope all the NRA bashers in the GOA hear this. When the NRA got some on the fence legislators to include a sunset provision in the AWB (since they were going to vote for it anyway) the GAO twisted that into the NRA supporting the AWB. Thanks to the NRA strategery the damned thing will expire. At least Feinstein gives credit where it's due.

"Flash suppressors for votes," Feinstein said. "That's what we are up against. It makes me sick to my stomach."

Unfortunately, not sick enough; the darn socialist fruit loop is still sucking in air.

Are there any statistical documents that demonstrate the measurable effectiveness of the ban? I have not heard the pinkos lauding such.

To the contrary, clearly this is a bill that should expire (with prejudice!) and lie in state in the democrat Hall of Lies in perpetuity.

"...The ban's expiration will mean that U.S. manufacturers can make - and gun stores can sell - military-style rapid-fire weapons equipped with such devices as high-capacity ammunition-magazines and flash-suppressors that camouflage weapons fired in near-darkness. Assault-weapons are also the choice of drug-dealers, gang-bangers, red-necks, Al-Queda, and anarcho-syndicalist-communalists."

This report filed by San Francisco Chronicle reporter Hyphenia Comma-Overusenstein.

This is a defeat for incrementalism. There is no statistical correlation between the so called ban and violence because the ban was cosmetic. I could put a banned weapon next to an (un banned) post ban weapon and you could not tell the difference. There is absolutely no difference in the firepower of either.

All the ban did was prompt the sale of millions of ak 47's in the US. Now that it is over, we can add a bayonet, a flash hider, a pistol grip.

Feinstein is bent because her opportunity to expand the list is history.

Thanks. It's fun to imagine that once in a while something like stonewalling on judicial appointments can be thrown back in their faces when they're asking for something.

Is ther any chance that the next large object that falls from space could possibly land smack dab on her head?

I mean if It can happen for a smart fella like Wyle E. Coyote it could happen to a dunce like her, right?

Well, not to be disagreeable, but actually I could. I worked in a firearms store in the ’90’s. Had some wonderful conversations around the gun counter, I can tell ya!

But, other than the magazines, quite right about the “cosmeticity” of the ban. Now if we could just get cheap 7.62X39 ammo again!

"I hope all the NRA bashers in the GOA hear this"

I think the GOA has forced the NRA to move to defense of guns as a 2nd Amendment issue, not a hunting one.
I remember when Gore was running (and in a recent poll also) many of those who supported the ban were claiming to be NRA members!
That is why Kerry is claiming to be a hunter, because some NRA members think that what gun ownership is really about.
I applaud the efforts the NRA and the GOA have made in defending gun ownership as a 2nd Amendment right, not a hunting one.

For Feinswine to be so anti-gun - anti-2nd Amendment, is ironic..

Had it NOT been for the murder of her boss by a man with a gun -- she would still be another no name leftist in that sewer of politics in San Francisco...

She for one -- should LOVE guns....
One made her famous and powerful..
