Does anybody care that the timeline of RatherGate is a joke?

The following excerpt is from MyWay.com.

The first four months of 1972 are at the beginning of a controversial period in Bush's Guard service. After taking his last flight in April 1972, Bush went for six months without showing up for any training drills. In September 1972 he received permission to transfer to an Alabama Guard unit so he could work on a political campaign there.

I have read just about every post listed on FR today about this item. And no where have I seen it posted or stated that in 1972 there were 641 casualties from all types of action in Viet Nam but in 1971 there had been 2,357.

The war was winding down and the chances of GWB being called into action were about as likely as me being called back to active duty after doing my four.

But did he show up for other duties?

The stories and inferences are getting worse; and in rapd-fire it seems. Still waiting for the WH to put an end to this; they must do a counter-offensive ie the new spin of Demrats that Repubs shot themselves in the foot with this memo. . .

Start demanding McAulliffe tell the truth and demand some handwriting samples - at least! They want to fight; then we must fight - fight as we must; for the truth!

I may throw my TV if I hear one more Demrat repeat the propaganda spin/slime of lies; passing it off as truth; as to what/where and how GW survived his National Guard duty.

Fairness is not qualified by allowing these people to use the airways to LIE;LIE and LIE. . .or so it seems to me.

I don't think I would want to fly sporadically a F103 fighter that was considered a dangerous plane. It makes sense that if the war is winding down, there's a glut of pilots, you make a decision about flying. He did and that was not to fly if he didn't have to. He continued to meet his requirements by flying trainer planes. He had logged enough flight time to receive his honorable discharge. Case closed.

And you precisely raise the obvious question. The war by 1973 was done. There was a glut of pilots. They didn't need him. He wasn't AWOL. In contrast, what was Kerry doing at this time.

This whole thing is nothing but BS, probably started up by Carville.

We'll see what Rather has to say here in a few minutes.

Nobody really cares about GWB's Air National Guard service in 1972. What I don't understand is if this is all they have why is everybody so worked up on proving that Rather/CBS/ABC/NBC/MSNBC/CNN are biased?

To me it is a done deal. Just watch one of their News reports.

I just like to point out to my leftie friends that while Bush might have missed something here or there, he got a "made up all drills" chit for his difficult carrier landing last years. IT DRIVES THEM CRAZY!!

I have to agree with you about the White House.

Someone has got to stand up and say "This document scandal is the lowest of all low political tricks. Certain individuals on the other side will say and do,anything to discredit Pres Bush. It's shameful."

But there's silence...and I can't figure out why.

It was a F102 and they were not needed in Viet Nam due to the F4 and F105. So why retrain reserve F102 pilots when the war is winding down?

Why should the WH say anything, everyone is talking for them, as did the Swiftees. Let the noose get tighter around Rather. Better for the WH to stay out of the fray just yet unless directly asked.

This thing runs deep and has legs. If Rather digs in, which undoubtedly he will do, he will have perpetuated this for several more days.

With the Hurricane Ivan coming, it might be best for the WH to sit back and take a break on things. SBVT should hold off on any new ads also.

Im sorry you're right, F102. No sense for Bush to keep flying a dangerous plane, when he was not able to fly frequently. The first few years he logged over 350 hours.

That's a lot of flying. He did this in case he was going to called over there.

That brings up another point that the dems are saying. They're alleging that Bush was purposely put in a unit to fly a plane that would not see action in Viet Nam.

The guard was the nation's defense at that time. People forget that.

They're alleging that Bush was purposely put in a unit to fly a plane that would not see action in Viet Nam.

But they seem to disregard the fact that this was the plane that was being used by the ANG in 1968-1972.

"But there's silence...and I can't figure out why."

I think I heard my worst fears confirmed on FNews a few minutes ago. . .Brit offered that 'privately' at the WH; they think this flap will work in GW's favor; turning people even more against Kerry . . .

Well, yeah. . .that will happen; but gee; just imagine 'folks at the WH'; how many more minds you could turn; how much real fear you could put in a deserving Demrats heart; if you would just fight for the truth; tell the truth that deserves to be heard.

For sure, the 'War on Terror' is not the only war worth fighting.

Personally am sick of the Republican's 'white gove' approach to dirty Democrat politics.

Personally am sick of the Republican's 'white glove' approach to dirty Democrat politics.

But every time the WH refutes these scum they have a forum on the MSM calling Republican's mean liars. In this world only Democrat's tell the truth unless you happen to be connected to the Internet.

We the alter-media are the one's that will swing this election, not the holy 3 plus 1.

To me it is a done deal.

To you. But not to the moderates and swing voters. They need to understand as we do the depth of the CBS association with the Democrats.
