The heated debate over the authenticity of documents aired by CBS News purporting to show an effort to "sugar coat" President Bush's military record grew louder yesterday, when the Los Angeles Times reported that a retired major general who was consulted by CBS to verify the records now believes they were faked...

The Boston Globe is trying to cut its losses. CBS will soon be standing alone under the scrutiny of the entire MSM and blogosphere.
Man, if CBS loses the Globe, it's just down to Dan and his little army of imaginary experts. We need to start keeping a sharp eye on the obits to see if Danny's name pops up.
Fox News ran a story this morning about someone connected to the fake memo's retiring from the military 18 months before the memo's were written. I didn't get a name. Has anybody heard about this? I can't seem to find a print story about it.
Hmmmmmmmm...the plot thickens, first the Globe quotes CBS, then CBS uses the GLOBE for defense by quoting them back, and now the GLOBE BACKS OUT....interesting!
Ahh...from what I recall, the Globe itself still has some explaining to do since they "authenticated" the memos yesterday by taking the words of one of their document experts (Peter Bouffard 'sp') out of context. The Globe should correct their errors before correcting the errors of others.
Yesterday morning the Dallas Morning News reported that the officer Staudt mentioned in the memo about pressure to sugarcoat the record had retured before the memo was done. Other TANG members who knew him said he was NOT involved or exerting any pressure on anything after he retired.
The Globe hasn't given up. They are still hung up on curly quotes and superscript, while the community of experts has moved on.
Kerry-Edwards: Forging A

The name is Colonel Walter "Buck" Staudt. It's in the Glob story, 7th paragraph. Also in the Dallas Morning News.
Is this what your thinking of?

"We believed Bobby Hodges when we spoke to him," said Sandy Genelius. "When we read him the documents he said they sounded authentic to him."
Who is Sandy Genelius, the CBS producer of the segment? I heard some big CBS mucky-muck interviewed on one of the cable shows yesterday and he confirmed that the producer is a female and "has been working on this guard story for four or five years."
Just wondering if this is that person. Do we know?
New doubt to whom?
I can't figure out who's left out on the ledge with Dan.
I'm waiting for that one 60 Minutes' staffer who cares about his work to drop a dime on Dan.
The cheese stands alone.
What's the frequency kenny?
No, the producer is a gal by the last name of Mates.
This is bad news for Kerry. When the biased MSM starts reporting something that could harm Kerry, it's a clear signal that he's going down. Hopefully, he'll take Rather with him.
ROFLMAO!!! Too funny! They SO deserve to read your question!
Thanks for the info. I guess this woman is just some other useless mouthpiece.
