The first new memo is 01-Feb-72 and titled Flight Qualifications, and asks Harris to confirm flight certifications for Bush and another pilot, Bath.
The second new memo is 24-Jun-73 and is a memo to somebody named "Sir" (LOL) and says:
1 I got a call from your staff concerning the evaluation of 1st Lt Bush due this month. His refer is Lt. Colonel Harris
2. Neither Lt. Colonel Harris or I feel we can rate 1st Lt. Bush since he was not training with 111 FIS since April 1972. His recent activity is outside the rating period.
3. Advise me how we are supposed to handle this
Why did CBS not release these memos originally. Perhaps because the memos show that Bush had been doing drills with TexANG again after the May 1973 period (His recent activity is outside the rating period)?
Also, why does USA Today have a link to text versions of the memos and only have transcribed the 4 memos previously released?
By the way, there is nothing of significant value in either of the new memos, but it is strange that CBS held 2 back.
USAToday is stupider than CBS News? I could believe that.
Just remember who works for USA Today - Michael Moore.
May be of interest to you
The Kerry camp has been shopping those memos around for a month.
The fact that he refered in a memo to his superior officer as "SIR" is laughable, adn that's why CBS didn't release that memo. At first, I thought CBS got duped, but now I believe that CBS knew these were fake all along. Why else would they ignore the advice of Killian's son and wife? Why else would they mislead Hodges into certifying the content of the memos? Why else would they give Matley copies that were so deteriorated that he could only focus on the signatures?
Maybe because both Bush and Bath were mentioned...see this thread :

Holy %*#$Y^%!!!!!
And, I have canning to do today and can't play with this!!!! #$&%*#!!!!
These are such a pantload!!!
I do not believe for one moment that either c-bs or Rather was duped in any way.
Think you answered the question here.
Probably following the KISS principle for their 'audience'. . .no reason to clutter the negatives with anything that is not a total negative to hold onto.
Amazing that USA could print these 'memos' by their own copy. . .and think this was even remotely appropriate.
News to suit the dumbed-down; and getting dumber and lower; every day.
Memos made to order.
Would love to check some signatures/hand writing samples over at the DNC. . .or Moveon. . .just a few of Bush's Demrat friends. . .
