DID NEWSWEEK FIND THE GUY WHO GAVE CBS THE DOCUMENTS?
Kerry Spot/NRO ^ | 9/11/04

Posted on 09/12/2004 11:24:19 PM PDT by Cableguy

The Blogger Ace of Spades thinks he's uncovered something worth Drudge's sirens.

Bill Burkett, which Newsweek says CBS relied on for its story (but doesn't quite point the finger at regarding who gave the network the memos) "happens to also be a source for Jim Moore, author of "Bush's Brain," and Dan Rather's last "Source" interviewed during forged-documents defense."

The appearance of Jim Moore in CBS' report defending the documents was one of the oddest points. The guy has written a book slamming Bush. Big deal, everybody's done that, or so it seems when one walks into Borders these days. He's got no credentials, so far as anyone knows, in document forensics. No specialized knowledge. Apparently he's won an Emmy as a television news correspondent. Why is Rather dragging out this guy to make the defense?

Unless he helped pass on the documents. The memos originate with Burkett, who passes them on to Moore, who passes them on to CBS News producer Mary Mapes, who convinces Rather of their veracity.

Are Burkett and Moore the "solid sources" Rather was citing to defend the report?

It didn't take much convincing it seems.

Rather is part of an organized campaign to sink Bush. It's really funny, because the case could be made that he's really part of a dem strategy to sink Kerry to benefit the Clintons chances in '08.

The dems have everything so screwed up it's hard to know what to think.

Question is, how does the DNC and the Kerry campaign fit into this? As I understand it, the memos went from the DNC to Kerry to CBS.

Here is an interview with Burkett in which he just happens to use the term "run an interference": http://www.calpundit.com/archives/003249.html#more

The guy is obviously way out there. Here is more: http://michael-friedman.com/archives/000139.html

Ok, so this was back when he was running in the primaries. He was just trying to get the gay vote. I jumped to conclusions. He kinda looks gay there though, lol.

Question is, how does the DNC and the Kerry campaign fit into this? As I understand it, the memos went from the DNC to Kerry to CBS.

That's where the problem is....

We have Bennett, who is a big DNC fundraiser who levelled the charges of favoritism.

Then we have Beckett, who reportedly had had a nervous breakdown, has run for DNC posts, and unquestionably has stated that he had access to some mysteriously purged Bush records (of course these "records," if true would never have been used by Anne Richards now in the race for governor prior to the purge now would they? Yeah, you believe that and I have a bridge for you.)

We then have Mapes, who was the See BS producer, who worked in both Dallas and Seattle.

We also have Bev Harris, who ran the anti-Bush PR smear campaign from the Seattle-area in 2000, who is running a website and writing a book as an "investigative journalist" about touch screen voting.

Harris pimped for Beckett in 2000. She also ran the Bush 2000 DUI smear and the Florida PR "stolen" election campaign.

And we have a source that is allegedly impeccable.

We also have Dan Rather and his little liberal daughter who have all sorts of ties to Bennett (including fundraising ties).

So who's the source here? Beckett would be the ideal DNC stooge, but these folks are all in bed with each other, if he is, hopefully it can be linked back to the sKerry campaign. Who would Rather trust with what's left of his career as a "journalist?"

Where's a good "deep-throat" when you need them? (and no, I am not talking about Monica).

What proof is there that Bev Harris ran the Bush 2000 DUI smear or the Florida stolen election campaign?

More on Burkett and Moore here. Interesting reading -- certainly nothing in it that works against the thesis above.

Her website hosted scores of doucments on the alleged stolen election.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010331112747/www.talion.com/allegedfraud.html

She put out a press release bashing pro-Bush "hackers" from shutting down her website when the DUI smear documents were released.

http://web.archive.org/web/20010331112831/www.talion.com/hackers.html

In fairness, upon further review, I retract any comments about any direct link between talon.com and the 2000 DUI smear. But note the stink she is raising.

Also note story one here:

where tallion ties the DUI smear to the vet controversy.

I'm also not sure how her so-called stolen election documents (I only see one) are supposed to cut. It could have been favorable for Bush or Gore. Even some FReepers were pushing the mass double punch theory in 2000.

Don't kid yourself. The Buchanan punches are a statisical anomaly theory was the one used by Democrats to justify the recounts in Florida. As was the alleged disinfranchisement of African Americans. They are hitting all of the DNC talking points of the time with that particular release.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get to the source documents.

My theory as to why Jim Moore was interviewed, besides the obvious Bush-bashing he could do, is because the media admitted that he was the one who tipped them off about the months-old Ben Barnes videotape on the internet.
