If borders allows this behavior to continue they will soon be out of business.

Borders has condoned, fostered and allowed this behavior since the 1990's. I gave up on them when I tried to by Rush's first book.

I just bought my copy at Borders in of all places, Tomkins County, NY (home of Ithaca and definitely "behind enermy lines"!!!).

The old enough to know better clerk (they never comment on my purchases at this store) could not help herself and asked me if the book were a pro-Bush or anti-Bush item. I replied as far as I knew Bush did not appear in it and hence it took no position on Bush. Rather, it concerned Vietnam War activities.

Amazing, they do not seem to be able to sell this book without scrutiny, a fifth degree, or some comment.

I might add having read prior posts here and knowing just exactly where I was at the time, I was somewhat steeled for some desk inquisition and my comments were appropriately terse and delivered in a "you should know more about your store's products than the customer" attitude.

I think it flustered her as she had slide trouble trying to run my card and at first was going to blame the card when it was obvious she could not come close to hitting the slot. When she could see I was not particularly amused by any of it, Voilla (a Kerryism) we were done--mission accomplished.

If Borders allows it to continue, their shareholders should launch a massive lawsuit against them for reckless abandonment of their fiduciary responsibilities. I'm surprised such a case hasn't already been brought against some of these public majors who constantly see fit to piss off half the potential customer base for no business reason whatsoever, simply the whims of a handful of people.
