I think Burkett is being set up to take a fall.
Everyone will be al over this crazy person (CBS's 'unimpeachable source?) and they'll be totally thrown off the scent, or stink, as it were.

Thanks. The plot thickens.

It's becoming clear that the Dems were using Burkett to be their "frontman" to claim he found the memos -- except now that everything went wrong for them, they try to use him as fall guy, so nobody investigates further, as to just exactly who forged the memos.

Burkett may have been given the memos by the DNC to fax them to CBS, but he most definitely wasn't the one who created them.

He's also one of the candidates that Howard Dean is supporting:

Doesn't much matter who did what; if he faxed them, that's wire fraud.

Think he's willing to "do the time?"

It should be noted that his client, Bill Burkett, lives in Baird, Tx which is about 15 minutes drive from the Kinko's in Abeline from whence the documents in question were faxed to CBS- when I phoned him earlier tonight and mentioned this little tidbit had been ascertained, Burkett mumbled something unintelligible and hung up - clearly surprised to hear that

They couldn't have picked a better stooge. The guy is certifiable.
But then, CBS flew and met with him, so that just makes CBS look even more stupid if they trusted faxed copies from him.
