Dan Rather, the longest-serving and most outspoken of the major network news anchors, recently served as the star attraction at a Democratic Party fundraiser.

Donors paid as much as $1,000 for a private evening in Austin with the CBS newsman, according to an invitation obtained by The Washington Post. Rather's appearance at the March 21 gathering generated about $20,000 for the Travis County Democratic Party -- and will undoubtedly provide ammunition to critics who have long accused Rather of leaning to the left...Other hosts included Scott Ozmun, the county Democratic chairman, and Robin Rather, the anchor's daughter and a Texas environmentalist and marketing executive.

I think the evidence is there, circumstantial, yes, but evidence, none the less. There is other evidence as well, the DNC is running Internet ads using this information. Rumor is, also, that these "memos" had been floating around the Kerry/DNC offices for months before they were passed to SeeBS. Now we just need to find someone who saw these memos at one of these 2 sites and we'll have all the evidence we need.

It is rumored that Blather may still own a home in Austin. I wonder if there is a way to find out. Anybody?

If Dan Rather's daughter is THE source of the phony
documents, this would go far in explaining why
Rather keeps silent on his source.
Something stinks to high heaven here.

Good work Mighty Quinn!

With the political sophistication of someone plugged into CBS's - Dan Rather- and with the sophistication to access all of the Texas Democrat powerbase - why would someone go to a Kinkos in Abilene,TExas to fax CBS in New Yort City -
unless it was to obfuscate the identity of that person? I have a fax machine in my home - and probably so do you. So does most buisnesses. Why?
By the way- can you access Dan Rather and get a response from him? I doubt it.

You'd think at least SOME of the MSM (based in NYC, DC, etc.) would look at sKerry and think, "Holy crap, do I really want this dweeb to be the only man standing between the Islamofacists and possible WMD attack on my hometown?".

I mean just damn, it's the big city folks who really have the most to lose in this thing.

Thanks, Al Gore!!

I found a Dan and Jean Rather who own a house at:
719 CUTLASS LAKEWAY, TX 78734-4316

I am not sure what difference that makes. Rather is a Texan from Travis County, his daughter is a Democratic Party activist in Travis County, and Rather spoke at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Travis County. His roots in the Democratic Party in Texas are deep.

Nice compilation of articles, but I must be missing something here - what is the connection? The only common terms are "Texas" and "Democrats".

This is as tenuous as the NYT chart tying the SwiftVets to the President. Except in their case, the only common terms were "Texas" and Republican.

You've compiled some great resources, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Nothing you've posted refutes the simplest explanation: Bill Burkett simply fabricated the documents himself to bolster a story he had been trying to peddle for years.

To someone trying to cover their backside, a drive of 4.5 hours is nothing! I live in Oklahoma, and in the great Southwest you get used to driving long distances. You just hop in your caddie (a la LBJ) and burn up the pavement!

If this office is like every other campaign/party office, they probably have volunteers from all over the state. You would just send the documents home with the person who drives the farthest.

Rather's appearance at the March 21 gathering generated about $20,000 for the Travis County Democratic Party... So 20 something people showed up to meet Dan Rather. I'm impressed. (/sarcasm)

Would Rather have made a special trip to Texas for just a small fundraiser? Or was there a spur-of-the-moment fundraiser held because Rather was going to be there ANYWAY on other business? Like meeting with the memo forger?

You are right. I can't believe that any sane Jew, Black, Woman, Gay, Lesbian, Christian would even think about voting for John Kerry. The Muslim terrorists hate all of these folks and will eliminate them the first chance they get. Voting for John Kerry is the first step in inviting their own deaths. How stupid can these people be?

"'I didn't ask the question, and I should have,' . . . "

Gore taught him the phrase. First tested after Gore got busted at the Chinese fund-raiser.
