Ranch Rescue and several other unauthorized groups...

WTF is this unauthorized crap? Since when did anybody have to get permission from ANYBODY to protect their property?

This is EXACTLY the reason we have the 2nd amendment, I hope they use their right to protect themselves from this government tyranny!! I am so sick of this crap I could puke!!

For all there whackiness these guys hadn't hurt anyone and were very careful of how they treated border intruders.

Whoa! I just received some inside information that is disturbing. These guys are messed up. I stated previously, when the group went "militia" that it was a major problem waiting to explode. At least the Feds were smart enough to back off from the "compound" and arrest the armed kooks off property while they were out on a beer run or something.

I will say again that the solution is to secure the border. It would kill two birds with one stone - we'd have a secure border and these groups would have no more reason to exist and would disappear.

Sorry, but the second does not flow from the first. They'd just find some other damn thing to go crazy about--such as the Feds enforcing the border and personally inconveniencing them.

Thank you for once again exposing yourself as a poster-boy of RINO arrogance. The ACU refuses to deal with illegal immigration as an issue - in deference to the big money Republicans who benefit from the billions in taxpayer funded medical services and education provided to illegals. It has therefore lost a lot of credibility. In fairness to Cannon, he is solidly pro-life. Pandering to a treasonous leftist gang like LaRaza is inexcusable.

Refusing to back a leftist like your idol Arlen Specter is not the name as supporting a leftist like Hoeffel. Specter is a leftist who will ensure that no conservative judge is seated. Socialists are socialists regardless of which party label they wear - a minor detail that is lost on big-government RINOs and open-borders jihadis such as yourself. The reason conservatives are starting to leave the Republican party has much to do with the Marxist-style denunciations from folks like you.

RE: Gore

What's Gore got to do with my comments about the excesses of federal agents at Ruby Ridge, Waco and how it took years of citizens' efforts to get Congress to hold real hearings?

My original comment was directed at a reply that cautioned that we should not jump to conclusions about the feds' intent vis-a-vis the ranch in Arizona. I say Waco proved that no info is forthcoming until the feds are pressured.

Gore?

Once convicted of a felony charge (he was on parole), (or any felony, or a misedmeanor involving domestic violence), mere posession of a firearm is another felony....

We are seeing a turf war in progress. If the INS can't/won't do the job, the Border Patrol is in the same straits, they will never get funding if private citizens fill in the gap. They don't want to get upstaged, either.

I don't doubt that palms are getting greased by the Coyotes somewhere along the line to look the other way, but the property owners have to do something.

Unfortunately, the Felony charges will be used by the media to trump any good Ranch Rescue or Nethercutt have done.

Plus, the media gets a story to shout about those nasty "assault weapons" again, and even include night-vision devices.

Another shoot-out between the Feds and those nasty 'right wing wackos/militias' sounds terribly familliar. Feinswine and others are dusting off the Bills now. The Feds have known of this organization for years, now, and not pressed the issue. Why now?

I hope and pray this is resolved peacefully, (at least from here out), just to take the wind out of the story.

Army assholes hate it!

First of all, which branch of the military did you serve in? Second of all, all of my "army asshole" friends who are still enlisted think Bush's plan is great.

On one hand conservatives want the Government OUT of our lives, on the other hand lets have scary Border agents, FBI, BATF???

I did not mention the fbi in this post, I have a few current comments regarding the fbi/batfe in other posts. Do not portray me as saying things I did NOT say.

Border Patrol is primarily supposed to interact with with foreigners, NOT Americans. If BP agents were nine feet tall cyclopes that could hear an illegally crossing mexican walking in sand at a thousand yards that would be ok by me.

I agree, We have camp Pendleton, in San Diego, place them at the border. WE guard borders all over the world, yet we don't give a care about our own.

These guys would get back to life work which is ranching. It is a pain in the a$$ for them to have to do this. They are for the most part law abiding citizens. Expecting this country to keep illegal entrants off of their lands.

You are, of course, right about felony convictions.

The problem with all this that I, personally, have is that the group Ranch Rescue has been around for a long time. That the timing of this confrontation should roughly coincide with the sunset of the semi-automatic rifle ("assault weapons") ban raises an eyebrow for those of us who became sensitive (under the Clinton years) to grandstand confrontations with groups in "compounds" just as some piece of anti-gun legislation was being considered.

Horrific events occurred from Waco to Columbine, oddly with the appearance of being well timed to create bad press for all gunowners, not just criminals.

Many career people now in high places in the Nation's LEAs were emplaced under Clinton, and Clinton was one of the most anti-gun POTUSs ever.

Unfortunately, the multitude of citizens' groups which sprang up on the heels of Waco were branded by the Left as extremist, and groups like Morris Dees's SPLC and Mark Pittcavage's "Militia Watchdog" defined who was 'extremist' for LEAs at all levels.

Mostly, the groups are composed of people who feel they have cause to be scared because the actions of the Government make no sense.

There are folks with criminal records everywhere, and these groups have no immunity to that.

The militia watchdog site has been absorbed by the ADL, and their latest article on militias can be found here: Militias expanding again

Seeing that on their website makes me wonder, especially when the Dems would use the ploy of branding everyone from the NRA on out as 'domestic terrorists' to push their anti-gun agenda.

"...he couldn't evacuate because as a federal agent he had to work."

I can understand that. It happens a lot, some people are appreciative, most simply don't care and then you have the others...

Don't let them get under your skin.

So you are okay with thousands upon thousands of illegals swarming across our borders and the Feds shooting people trying to protect their property. What is wrong with you?

No I'm not, obviously.

Do you see Bush doing anything about it? Or even promising to do anything about it, in order to earn votes? He think he can coast in, with approval to keep doing what he's doing. Which is virtually nothing, except spending hundreds of billions of dollars more each year.

The Border Patrol agents are not the problem. They can't help it if there are not enough agents to cover every square inch of the border.

Agreed. They are constrained by budget and manpower, and face a huge task

The beef here is not with the Border Patrol, but the FBI, who have earned a sullied reputation in confrontations past, bad/fabricated lab data, and investigations which appeared colored by partisan agendas.

BTW, thank your husband for us for his years of service guarding the Republic, and thank you for the years of waiting, wondering, and worrying.
