I understand CBS News is gonna get right on this, although Dan Rather is questioning the validity of the documentation that's been found. Dan: "They're relying on documents that are obviously forged. Nobody has used handwriting like that since 1955."

This is begnning to make more sense.  Why would bin Laden issue a statement that included references to Iraq if there was no connection?

http://www.ict.org.il/articles/fatwah.htm

Text of Fatwah Urging Jihad Against Americans

Published in Al-Quds al-'Arabi on Febuary 23, 1998

The best proof of this is the Americans' continuing aggression against the Iraqi people using the Peninsula as a staging post, even though all its rulers are against their territories being used to that end, still they are helpless. Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, in excess of 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation.

Then there's this:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1177581/posts

Report: Saddam offered bin Laden safe haven
Bradenton Herald ^ | JUly 24, 2004 | JIM LANDERS

In 1999, Saddam Hussein apparently invited Osama bin Laden to move to Iraq. In 2000, Iran reportedly "made a concerted effort to strengthen relations with al-Qaida."

And now we have this:

September 17, 2004

Evidence of intent -- but no WMD program
Details released on report by U.S. weapons inspector

Douglas Jehl, New York Times

Washington -- A new report on Iraq's illicit weapons program by the chief U.S. weapons inspector is expected to conclude that Saddam Hussein's government had a clear intent to produce nuclear, chemical and biological weapons if U.N. sanctions were lifted, government officials said Thursday.

IF this is true...its very explosive stuff. EXCELLENT article should be sent to RUSH.
Disgusting that the UN wont allow the info to be viewed?
The UN did a shoddy job of handling things in Iraq and now I am beginning to see why...too many palms were being greased.
IF Saddam was in bed with Al Qaeda...stay tuned for the left wing media to spin this.

" Among Nasreddin's holdings, for instance, is a four-star hotel in Milan, Hotel NASCO"
"A recent phone call to MIGA's shuttered office in Lugano, Switzerland, was answered by someone who picked up the phone in Milan, Italy — in the Hotel NASCO"

We've had a couple of articles posted here before on Nasreddin. I thought he was arrested at one point.

This can't be. There's no Iraq-al-Qaeda link, CNN said so.

Question for Attorneys: Under the Patriot Act can we get a cease and desist of further funding of the United Nations by the U.S. Government?

The U.N. has been acting as a conduit to fund terrorist organizations, which is clearly illegal regardless of intent. The bank accounts of the U.N. should be frozen and there should be a legitimate investigation of what is left of the paper trail by U.S. authorities.

The way to investigate the UN would be to cut all power to the building, kill emergency generators, send in 1,000 rangers or marines, detain everyone in the building while we thoroughly "investigate" MR. Anan and his gang of America hating leftist thieves.

My suggestion for the next step in the war on terror:

Evacuate UN personnel of the members of the current coalition....then bomb the UN building.

Bumping!

This will not surprise most of us.

Lets hope that there is a lot hard proof here.

If true, Annan needs to be arrested and flown to Iraq for crimes against the Iraqis.

POTENTIALLY HUGE: Possible Saddam-Al Qaeda Link Seen in U.N. Oil-for-Food Program

Hey, when the UN is involved, there's a big enough pie for everyone to get a piece
of the action.

And heartless, murderous thugs get an extra share.

This deserves a Hewitt Ping, imo. He and Claudia really broke this story. She has been doing tremendous ground work on the story, and Hugh has been giving her the national air time that got this story picked up. It needed to be picked up. Fox deserves a lot of credit for engaging it now. But, let's do credit this as another homerun for the 'New' media. This is potentially Huge! ... or hugh!

... and vey series!

I notice that the authors of the article are careful not to get ahead of the known facts (e.g. "In the case of Hayel Saeed, MIGA and the HSA Group, there is no public information available about the precise flow of funds, and no proof that Saddam's money made its way to MIGA."). (Dan Rather should study this; he might learn something.)

Those here eagerly popping the corks on the champagne may want to hold off. And I wouldn't worry about it being "covered up" by the media. Not only because of Rather's little embarrassment, but also because one can be sure that the Bush campaign will be crowing if his handlers think they can sell this one. If they stay silent I suggest everybody else should just let it go.

We should bide our time until after Bush is re-elected then us this scandal as an reason to pull out of the UN.

IMHO we are feeding terrorism by feeding the UN....they're absolute scum of the earth......
