BUSH: GUARD BRASS GAVE ME THE OK TO TAKE TIME OFF

September 19, 2004 -- President Bush yesterday defended his National Guard record, saying his military supervisors gave him permission to work on a political campaign while he served in the Air National Guard.

[snip]

Bush questioned the authenticity of documents used by CBS News anchor Dan Rather that accuse him of getting special treatment during his service in the Guard. "There are a lot of questions about the documents and they need to be answered," Bush said."I think what needs to Ÿhappen is people need to take a look at the documents, how they were created and let the truth come out."

CBS has refused to identify its source.

Meanwhile, Vietnam veterans opposed to John Kerry say they'll launch a new "bombshell" anti-Kerry TV ad as early as this week. Swift Boat Veterans for Truth spokesman Sean McCabe said the ad will highlight "new aspects" of Kerry's anti-war activities but reŸfused to say what.

I don't know why he's talking about this after he's already won. It's over. Don't revisit the scene of the battle. It's never the same the second time around.

Take your pick. The one that really burns my behind is that Kerry participated in a vote at VVAW to decide whether to assassinate U.S. congressmen.

He needs to keep his lips sealed on the issue. If he says anything it opens the door for the press to ask the next question and demand an answer. Let the left slug it out
among themselves.

That's what Kerry "thought" about the SwiftVets.

It's a whole lot easier to let your supporters slug it out than to slug it out yourself.

I think he's helping to make sure Rathergate stays in the news. Right now the CBS implosion has to be helping. It keeps Kerry out of the news and it convinces fence-sitters to question the bad news they've been hearing from the MSM.

So what.
Kerry was let out of six months of active
duty obligation.
(his three years due at commissioning, was extended
when he took the job of admiral's aide)

If anything, it's diverting attention from Rathergate. The next obvious question is, "Why did they let you take time off? Was that normal?"

Too many rabbitholes to go down. Just let them flounder. They are doing such a good job of it by themselves. They don't need Bush's help.

Exactly right. The balloon almost touched the ground, but we have now batted it up in the air again and there will be another week of media coverage.

Taking more air time away from Kerry.

Even the papers here in the Peoples Republic of Kali have started to present a more balanced view of the President. I think they have decided that he is going to be re-elected and don't want to be seen as being too biased.

Actually, its good.

It unequivocally confirms to the MSM now listening and reporting that Bush had a justifiable reason to be what the Left has called AWOL - permission from his commanders.

It has been further established by commanders still living that this is confirmed.

This completely undermines Rather's last possible defense - the documents are fakes but the story is true.

Slam dunk!

Keep your fingers crossed, Mr. Ram.

Maybe the Swifties "bombshell" IS the fact that Kerry participated in the assassination meeting and didn't tell any authorities about it.

Could we be so lucky?

Looks like we blogers are one step ahead of the Administration. They are forgeries. They contain lies. They attempted to sway voters. IT IS A CRIME AND WE MUST BRING THOSE RESPONSIBLE TO JUSTICE.

Instead of defending his record, Bush should be exposing Kerry's fake, rigged and dishonorable record.

In addition, Bush has not come down hard enough on Kerry's anti-American voting record and the fact Kerry was warned about Logan airport's loose security months before 9/11.

Why hasn't Bush hammered John Edwards about his frivolous lawsuits? Americans say health care is their top issue, yet it is John Edwards that has caused higher health insurance premiums to all of us because of higher malpractice insurance.

It is John Edwards that has caused many doctors to get out of the busness, to relocate overseas (I have three doctor clients who have done that due to malpractice insurance in the states) and has caused many doctors to move to other states and often out of the cities.

Bush can hammer these scumbags but is playing too much of a Mr. Nice Guy. Stop defending your record Mr. Bush and start exposing these two scumbags for what they are.
