Heard on Joe Scarborough--talking about it now.

Burkett is now saying he received the documents from a mysterious stranger at the Houston Livestock Show.

This isn't quite accurate. He says he got them at the Houston Livestock show. He doesn't say anything about who gave them to him. Then he says he lied to CBS about the source after CBS pressured him about chain of custody--told them it was a former Guardsman who was overseas now.

This allows the DNC to admit they received the documents in August, but knew they were fake and ignored them. CBS and Rather are not the target. The DNC was involved and we have to prove it.

Totally, wholly ripped CBS; the whole panel......then the gentleman who is now with the Washington Post (I'm terribly sorry that I've forgotten his name; mustache, academic-looking, intelligent) was saying how it was unconscienable for CBS to go to a man who had a "bone to pick with Bush".......and Brit Hume (God bless 'im) says something to the effect of "multiple bones to pick", obviously referring to Rather's long-standing feud with the Bush family.

It was priceless, got a real chuckle out of the whole panel, and was absolutely DEAD on.

This............this..............is why I trust Brit and his news show.

Lockhart has denied that he talked about the documents with Burkett. The thing is, he has said it it possible that the CBS producer told him of documents. Well she would have to tell him something about why she was in contact with Burkett and needed him to call Burkett. So CBS was in contact with the Kerry campaign about the documents. They could not have gotten the documents without making that contact.
