What's this about cattle futures?

Can you fill in the details on this livestock auction story, perhaps some links..?

In the above article, the lawyer for Burkett claims that Burkett received these documents in March at a livestock auction. Earlier in the article, it claims that the livestock auction took place in Houston, which is quite a haul from West Texas just to go to a livestock show when you get a call from a stranger. I am just trying to piece together some sort of time table on this.

If cattle futures were involved, then Hillary Clinton is behind it. But of course I wouldn't believe anything Burkett or Van Os say. Right now they're just trying to shake forgery charges. It completely contradicts Burkett's internet data trail. We have the emails and articles. And there ain't no mystery man at a cattle auction way back in February. These documents are recent inventions which Burkett "reassembled" along with one or more other people.

"By the accounts of Mr. Rather and other officials, they began to understand their report was falling apart last Thursday, when Mr. Burkett confessed to CBS that he had lied about where he got the four memorandums. While he had initially said he got them from another former guardsman, people at CBS said, he then told them that the documents came through a convoluted process that started with a phone call from a stranger and ended with the handoff of an envelope at the Houston Livestock Show, that city's version of Mardi Gras."

Just when you thought the story couldn't get any stranger...

Bill Burkett goes to the Houston Livestock Show and comes home with forged memos delivered in an envelope. Wow.

By the way, Burkett apparently is involved with raising and selling cattle in Texas. In fact, he is on the American Simmental Association Board of Trustees (confirmed through searches using the e-mail address he used for some of his articles and posts in the Texas Democrats Yahoo group).

You can get his full contact information by visiting the association's web site at:

I believe it was in February that Burkett was on hardball with Chrissy Mathews ..they replayed the interview a few days ago no mention of the docs..no mention on the internet postings by Burkett of having docs just information in august..

Is it not possible to simply change the date of origin in a pdf file to whatever you want?

put the man under oath now..

if he lied about the source to Rather would he not lie about the livestock handoff? Lots of people in jail with more deniablity...

Unimpeachable my foot....this is a conspiracy...

Man, these guys are slimes. Not only did they not do proper vetting, not only were they still confident in the authenticity of the forged memos after the rest of the world knew otherwise, they still lied about the memos after they started having serious doubts about them.

Talk about being clueless.
