IF that is REALLY the case, they should all be fired for being TOO STUPID.
More likely, they should be fired for committing a fraud over the airwaves.
The problem is HOW to investigate it. First, I don't trust big media to do an adequate job. Secondly, we only have to look at the nonconsequences to X42 to see how government would botch up this investigation and perhaps it should not be their role to do it anyway. Thirdly, bloggers' ability to break the story originally required the capacity to see the documents and debunk them. I don't know how they are able to track down a chain of evidence or discover secret conversations between people. since there is nothing to see.
I'm afraid that what big media wanted to happen will happen.........apologize and it will go away. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't listen to anything Dan Rather says anymore, but according to FoxNews, Rather's apology was hedged. He basically stated that he still thinks the documents are real, but he can't prove it. And he defended his sources.
Sounds like a non-apology to me.
I'm telling you, Dan Rather is on KKKarl Rove's payroll. He's on his knees in front of that fat, slimy, sleazeball like a WH intern.

I knew Rove and his fellow trolls were diabolical, but I never knew just how good they were until today. I tried catching bits and pieces of several news shows on most of the cable channels and every show talked about how this is going to, or already has, sunk Dan Rather's career and the credibility of CBS news. And you can see everyone's eyes sparkling with joy!! What a great story! "Oh, it's a dark day for journalism, but god I'm having an orgasm."

"Lucy Ramirez" is obviously not a real person. A woman using that name called Burkett, and arranged a meet. But she never showed up at the meet. Instead, a man passed Burkett the papers. I would not be surprised if the RNC were behind this--passing crude forgeries in an effort to discredit the Bush AWOL story.

And here's the guy, Roger Stone, who is the link Stone and Rove go way, way back to Reagan and Lee Atwater, may be the source of the documents. This is the same guy who organized and paid the Miami Mob during the recount and then went on to join Al Sharpton's campaign. Folks if this is true, we have a direct link to the WH.

There is no apology, only a regret that the documents did not support their theory. I think that some one should put together a timeline of the contacts between Burkett, CBS and the DNC (Cahill, Cleland, Lockhart etc.) to verify if any of the "explainations" hold water.
I agree. So Rather has now very clearly apologized and admitted wrongdoing on the part of CBS. He should address his apology to our President, because that's who his left/liberal gang tried to wrong the most.
Whether Dan has any shame or not, though (not), the Kerry Campaign just sunk a lot further last night. We'll have enough jokes about Democrats to keep us laughing for the next four years.
