I wonder how Wilson discovered this story. It's one of two things. Either the prison contacted Fox News, or CBS sent word somehow, in an effort to villainize Mapes as the eventual sacrificial lamb for Memogate.
I'm leaning toward the first explanation.

I would agree with you. I don't think CBS is making Mapes a sacrificial lamb, in fact, they continue to stand by her.

It's possible that Wilson got a heads up on the story from a local reporter who works the prison news.
