We brought him home on Tuesday late afternoon by ambulance. He was able to visit with all of his family members and friends that have come by to see him that day and the next day.
When he got home on Tuesday he was hungry. Hungry for the first time in days in fact. His dinner request? Frito pie. So he ate two helpings of frito pie!
I had asked for prayer for him to be able to vote before he dies. Thanks to information from freeper IamHD, we were able to take him by ambulance yesterday to the Barbara Bush Library and he was able to do curbside voting. They came out to the ambulance with a portable machine and he was able to vote for his beloved George W. Bush for re-election. That was so very important to him to be able to do and I am thrilled to have been able to go with him.
Shortly after we returned, he lapsed into a coma. He is still in the coma and I anticipate that very shortly, perhaps in the next few hours, he will be home with his Saviour and with his mother and father.
He has had all of his friends and family come to see him today to say goodbye.
Thank you all so very much for praying. Please take a moment to look at the pictures of him voting.
Also, please feel free to send the pictures out if you like. He felt voting was so important that this is what he chose in his final hours. Please make sure everyone you know does the same thing.
For those that think they just don't have time to go vote, please tell them about dad, Robert Dimmick.
I am so very proud of him and love him so very much.
Everyone..last night I posted an update about my Dad, but I forgot to ping the list.
Thank you all for your prayers. I told him about them and he said "Thank you and God Bless" to you all.
Please take a look at my update at post 173 and at 176. He did get to vote and I have posted the pictures.
He passed away shortly after I posted the update with the pictures. He died very peacefully and comfortably.
Please, ping any of your lists that you think might be interested. I was so proud of him going to vote, being so weak and all.
I am so proud of him, that I would like everyone to know about him.
His name was Robert Dimmick and he was a great Christian and a great Dad.
What a good man your father is...and I imagine him telling his friends in heaven all about his last venture on earth...May God embrace him wonderously and comfort all of you as you grieve and begin to share favorite memories of your dad.
I am overwhelmed with the shots of his voting...and wish that you would send these on to the White House...your father's effort to vote deserves national attention, it impresses upon all the incredible importance of voting and the intense dedication and courage your father demonstrated elevates all of us.
God Bless you, it is an honor to post to this thread.
I hope every FReeper gets to review your pictures above and share in this miracle...and I bet the pancakes in heaven are beyond delicious!
God bless you at this time.
My sympathies for your loss. What a beautiful story of his last hours, surrounded by friends and loved ones and voting for President Bush! This story w/pictures should be sent to the WH and President Bush, I'm sure that he will mourn w/you and us on the loss of your father.
There at my Savior's side, Heaven is my home
I shall be glorified, Heaven is my home
There are the good and blest, those I love most and best
And there, I, too, shall rest, Heaven is my home.

I am glad your Father got to fulfill his wish and could vote for President Bush before he passed away.
I can tell that must have made him and you happy for that.
Thank you TexasFlower for sharing your father, Robert Dimmick with us.
May God bless you, comfort you, and give you peace.
In Jesus' name.

I was just pinged to this thread. I know how sad you must be but what a wonderful father and how blessed he was to have a daughter like you. I was so proud of him when I saw those pictures that I'm teary eyed.
May God bless your daddy and comfort you and your family, dear friend.
What a wonderful man, and you must be so proud!
Oh my, Tammy, that is beautiful and so inspiring. God bless you and your family, and a loving welcome home to your father.

The Bush family is just amazing, I think.
I just wanted to tell whoever you are, thank you for taking the time to let the President(s) know.
BTW, we celebrated the re-election pretty hard at our house on November 3rd. I'm sure that Dad was celebrating in heaven with Jesus and the angels!
Love to all!
