"The Second Amendment is the only constitutional protection to be singled out for state and local recognition or lack thereof, inaccurate or vague interpretation, and unconstitutional infringements. Whereas, the states are rarely permitted to infringe upon the human rights contained within the remaining nine Amendments, they are encouraged by the federal government and courts to assault the principles of the Second Amendment. Nationally, thousands of innocent and nonviolent people have been prosecuted, convicted, and incarcerated as a result of unconstitutional firearm legislation. These legislative and judicial abuses are an outrage yet willfully and readily employed in every state within this nation. At this stage of his appointment, Attorney General John Ashcroft adamantly refuses to enforce the Second Amendment nationwide. Instead, he vigorously prosecutes innocent, nonviolent persons charged with violating these unconstitutional laws." Is it at all likely that AG Ashcroft will enforce the Second Amendment during his second term?

The right to life entails the right to self-defense, which includes the right to own the means to effect it.

No. He has to deal with the leftist judegs in the Federal Court System. And Bush will try to balance his actions so as not to appear too pro-gun.
On the other hand, Kerry is a total anti-gunner like most Dems.
The problem is not with anti-Second Amendment movements as much as with anti-original intent courts which feel the Constitution is a "living document". Translation - the Courts have the right to interpret it any damn way they please.
Not until we can control COngrss and the executive and fill the Courts with original intent, stric constructionists, will the Second Amendment, and the First, and the Tenth, etc. be safe.
And that won't happen until people wake up.
Read "The First American Revolution" - new book on how Massachusetts Colony took back its government from the Crown BEFORE Lexington and Concord.
