My daughter is set as the producer for the election night news coverage of the Presidential race on her Emmy winning High School cable station.
She is a very smart and independent 16 year old, not willing to put up with anyone's propoganda, when she recognizes it, but she is suffering from the (very normal) young persons infatuation with liberal ideas. She understands my positions and supports them, intellectually, when I explain them to her, but she can be swayed by clever arguments. I want to armor her against that.
More importantly I want to solicit purely practical professional advice. Anyone with insight, and particularly anyone in the business, would do a great favor by sharing any wisdom they may have.
Thanks to all
I have no suggestions, but keep us posted on how it goes.
Is there a link?

OK, I'm not a professional, but I did edit & publish a very popular "underground" newspaper in High School. The most important thing for your daughter to remember on election night is that her own personal views do NOT matter, regardless of what they are. She must objectively report results and whatever filler they've prepared. There is nothing worse than watching the liberal "professionals" get their knickers in a twist when things do not go to their liking.
CSPAN should be her model. No opining!
I didn't do TV, but did do radio election coverage. Looking back on it, it was a stroke of genius how the Republican and Democrat headquearters were covered by the news department.
The News Director stayed at the studio with 2 "commentators" one from each side. The more conservative leaning reporter (me) was sent to Democrat HQ and the more liberal leaning reporter was sent to Republican HQ.
She shouldn't call it until the polls are closed. ; )
I am no expert. I just wanted to bump the thread. I hope she does well election night.
Mary Mapes Bump! I'm sure these days, we probably have in excess of five thousand newsies pickin' through this place!
will post link when available
Why don't you call one of your local stations and see if they might have some advice for her.
Ping.
bttt
Can't help you there, but I might be able to get Joe Lockhart to call.
