Did Kerry Lie about Attending the Signing of the Gulf-War Ceasefire
O'Reilly Factor ^ | 24 Sept 2004 | Rokke

Posted on 09/23/2004 9:18:29 PM PDT by Rokke

I just watched the rerun of O'Reilly's 2001 interview with Kerry discussing the need to invade Iraq. In that interview, Kerry said the following: "I mean, I was in Safwan. I went there when the signing of the armistice took place at the end of the war." I've watched the video of the cease-fire signing at Safwan. It was still in a combat zone. I don't remember seeing anyone but military officers. Can anyone provide additional insight, or has Kerry lied again.

>>...Kerry places himself in places where something actually occurs - as if it makes him more of an authority...

The man is straight out of Gump & Co., which was the sequel book to Forrest Gump. In the book, Forrest somehow has a hand in every great event of the 80's. As you may recall from the first "movie" Forrest Gump, Gump inadvertantly causes the plumbers at the Watergate hotel to be busted. Now in "Gump & Co." he manages to bumble his way into numerous big events. He's behind the wheel of the Exxon Valdez. Causes the fall of the Berlin wall. Jim & Tammy Baker. Iran Contra. Invents New Coke. Accidentally captures Saddam Hussein in Gulf War 1 (Schwartzkoff (sp) makes him put him back.) IOW, one idiotic adventure after another at the eye of the storm.

John F'n Kerry has Gump Syndrome!

On 13 March 1991 (10 days after the cease-fire was signed) Kerry addressed the Senate with the following....

"Mr. President, the January 12 vote on the Persian Gulf has been very much at issue in recent days. Some have come to the floor and spoken out publicly; others have spoken out through various media outlets, publicly attacking those who continue or who voted to continue the sanctions.
What answer there has been to these charges thus far has come almost exclusively from either independent columnists or from Democrats who voted with the President. I did not vote with the President, but I want to answer for myself those charges as one who voted to continue sanctions...."

I would imagine if he had just returned from the signing of the Cease-fire, he PROBABLY would have mentioned it. You can read his whole statement. He mentions nothing of it. Doesn't even try to claim a Purple Heart.

This is a very old lie, this interview was done Dec. 2001, if this bunch can participate in putting fake documents on a CBS program this little lie is no big deal.

In General Schwartzkopf's book, the only reference he makes to Senators/Congressmen being present: Date: 17 Mar 91, 1725 hrs. "Phoncon with the chairman. The CINC reviewed his most recent congressional delegation presentation, noting that the senators who voted against the war took up half the time explaining to the CINC the reasons for their votes."

Congressman Ford led the congressional delegation.

GMTA!

You'd think that someone who served in Vietnam and won three purple hears would have mentioned this at least once in his speech 10 days later...

...of course, it COULD have been regret from the vote cast on the 6, which he probably voted nay on because it's what he always votes...and besides, there was all that jet lag...

Could someone with a high speed Internet connection check out the archived sections of the Boston Globe and Boston Herald and see if we can find out were Kerry was on the day in question. My connection speed is not the best.

Yes, this is pretty recent, and it isn't like he can forget or lose track of which side of the border he was on, as in the Cambodian thing.

If he really said this on Fox, and it can be proven he wasn't there, which is probably easy, then this is very damaging.
