CBS Planning Another Anti-Bush Hit
Accuracy In Media ^ | September 23, 2004 | Cliff Kincaid

The CBS scandal gets worse every day. Now, in an amazing twist, Michael Isikoff of Newsweek was on Chris Matthews' MSNBC "Hardball" show on Wednesday night claiming that CBS had been planning to air a story about the White House using forged documents to make the case for war against Iraq. CBS postponed the story so it could go on the air attacking President Bush on the National Guard issue. It backfired when 60 Minutes itself got caught using forged documents. Still, Isikoff indicates that 60 Minutes is planning to air the anti-Bush piece, perhaps as early as Sunday night, September 26.

There is only one big problem—the anti-Bush story, as described by Isikoff and eagerly embraced by Democrat partisan Matthews, is completely false. It's as phony as those National Guard documents.

The Iraq-uranium link, the subject of much media misinformation, has been documented and confirmed by authoritative reports from Britain's Lord Butler, who had been a cabinet secretary under five different Prime Ministers, and the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In an article on the Newsweek website, Isikoff claims that 60 Minutes had originally planed to run a story about "how the U.S. government was snookered by forged documents purporting to show Iraqi efforts to purchase uranium from Niger." Isikoff says the story, narrated by CBS correspondent Ed Bradley, "asked tough questions about how the White House came to embrace the fraudulent documents and why administration officials chose to include a 16-word reference to the questionable uranium purchase in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union." Isikoff says 60 Minutes has been working on the story for more than six months.

Sounds like Bloggers and Freepers need to issue a preemptive strike on this story. I'm sure everyone still has the phone numbers and fax numbers.

Anybody think that CBSs hard on to get the Bush administration has anything to do with the FCC's $550,000 fine for the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction?

Do you honestly think that CBS would do the same thing twice in just a matter of weeks?

Absolutely.

Journalism schools across the nation are going to give CBS its own legacy as a required course in ethics for anyone wanting a diploma.

My daughter is a Media Fellow in one of the finest programs in the country. So far there has been nothing but support for CBS and case is used as an example of "Journalistic Courage [sic]." Don't bet theis wille ver be taught as a "what not to do" case in any J School in the country.

They do it every night. The NYT's is the biggest forger of news on the planet and CBS's daily source for most of Rather's jibberish.

I must admit that thought has come to me also. How can a group of people that obviously hate America so much be Americans? The obvious answer is they aren't.

They still seem to live in a bubble and just do not get it.

Goldberg is looking like a prophet for predicting this exact thing to happen.

AFAIK you are correct. this will be a GOOD thing for us - this will provide a golden opportunity for us to rub the dem's noses in the fact that the yellowcake incident was true after all and thet W DIDN'T lie!

and this is also tied into the release of the name of Plame, the "cia agent" who denied using her influence to land hubby the job of going to nigeria to find out about he yellowcake.

The 9-11 commission found a memo from her to her boss recommending him for the job, and his own report belies his public statements about the yellowcake being phone.

so the liars are Palme, hubby and CBS, but definitely NOT W.

sure, danny boy bring it on! we dare ya!

Pajamahideen would be ready to roll, I would think.

Isakoff is basically daring CBS to put the noose around its neck.

I wonder what ads Terry has ready at the DNC that will show another example of CBS(fruadualent)-DNC-Kerry collusion.

They will - somehow in their warped minds they think it will vindicate their criminal actions. I can't wait until they go down the tubes for good. I've emailed everyone I know and told them to email everyone they know to totally boycott CBS. Let's help them kick off their new Fall season.

That would be about on target. Isn't the first debate next Thursday and is on foriegn policy issues? Thus this would fit right in........

Such as not mentioning that the reinstitution of the Draft is sponsored by Democrats? And all the while questioning the President on it?? Surely not.

SeeBS blew their credibility. I think that partisanship like this needs to be monitored, but any new charges from these hacks will be diminished.

SeeBS has seriously crossed the line between journalsim and political activism in the name of the democrats.

Yes. The 9/11 commission DID document attempts to buy uranium in Africa.

I hate the MSM with all my heart and soul. I will never watch any of their programs, and will boycott any advertisers that I read about here in FR (since I won't ever see any of the ads myself I have to rely on what I read here).
