Mr. Nuance's Superior Diplomatic Skills
The Fourth Rail ^ | 24 September 2004 | Bill Roggio

On the heels of Iraqi Interim Prime Minister Allawi’s address to the United States Congress, John Kerry, who did not see it necessary to attend the speech or personally meet with Mr. Allawi, felt it necessary to insult him and all but call him a liar, as well as continue to claim Iraq is an abject failure. In a press conference afterward, where John Kerry again stated he had a plan for Iraq but didn’t tell us what it is, he repeatedly bashed the president and misrepresented the facts on the ground. Note this particular exchange between a reporter and John Kerry:

QUESTION: Prime Minister Allawi told Congress today that democracy was taking hold in Iraq and that the terrorists there were on the defensive. Is he living in the same fantasy land as the president?

KERRY: I think the prime minister is, obviously, contradicting his own statement of a few days ago, where he said the terrorists are pouring into the country. The prime minister and the president are here, obviously, to put their best face on the policy.

What is this reporter doing asking a question in this manner? Why did John Kerry not take this reporter to task for asking if Prime Minister Allawi is living in the same fantasy land as the president? Could anyone imaging the reaction of the media if a reporter ask, oh, let’s say this question, to President Bush: Are John Kerry’s actions during the Vietnam war denouncing American servicemen as war criminals while serving as an officer in the Naval Reserves akin to Benedict Arnold’s traitorous activities during the American Revolution? No doubt the reporter would have been raked over the coals for asking that question. The media’s conduct during this election has been disgraceful. This but an example of numerous loaded questions, softballs and outright lies forwarded by our non-partisan dispensers of truth.

Look at John Kerry’s insulting reply: The prime minister and the president are here, obviously, to put their best face on the policy. Does John Kerry view Mr. Allawi as a stooge of the Bush government? Why did he not take the time to discuss the situation in Iraq with Mr. Allawi? John Kerry believes he is speaking “truth to power”, just as he did during the Vietnam, when he preached defeatism and abandonment of the Vietnamese people. He will not meet with Mr. Allawi because he would be confronted with the fact that Iraq is not the quagmire he portrays it to be. Who is living in a fantasy world?

Does John Kerry realize that if elected he may need to work with Mr. Allawi to resolve problems in Iraq? This is John Kerry’s nuanced foreign policy: insult the allies closest to you while courting the nations that stood in opposition to America’s actions. He has referred to America’s closest friends as the "coalition of the coerced and the bribed" while he fawns over the nihilist French, Germans and Russians, who opposed America every step of the way and has no intentions of supporting Iraq in its struggle towards freedom.

Prime Minister Allawi spoke to Congress to apprise them of the situation in Iraq. He was honest in his assessment and explained the challenges that lie ahead. He is committed to Iraq’s future and is working hard with the Coalition to ensure the elections take place this January. For his efforts, John Kerry accepts that he is living in a fantasy land. This isn’t nuanced, it is disgraceful and unacceptable. All from a man that believes he possesses superior diplomatic skills that will allow him to create a coalition of the unwilling to accept the responsibility providing assistance in Iraq.

Update:

Instapundit links to further statements from John Kerry's advisors:

"The last thing you want to be seen as is a puppet of the United States, and you can almost see the hand underneath the shirt today moving the lips," said Joe Lockhart, a senior Kerry adviser.

Glenn Reynold's conclusion is dead on:

I think that statements like this are more evidence that the Kerry campaign -- or at least the Clinton folks running it -- expects to lose. Hence, they don't have to worry about who they'll be working with, but they want to fire up the anti-Bush base. That doesn't make it any less disgraceful to be going around uttering comments that might as well be designed to undermine America's alliances, of course. This sort of stuff is appalling.

It should be clear at this point that the Democrat Party does not care about the resulting fallout of making irresponsible comments such as these. It's about winning an election, at all costs. And if it can't be won, it is about discrediting America's foreign policy and disgracing our allies and President Bush. Where are the moderates in this party? Do any exist? Joe Lieberman, please step up and denounce this madness.

The Democrats have nominated a modern day Copperhead; defeatist, opposed to the war and eager to discredit the effort, and willing to provide easy propaganda to our terrorist enemies.

You've got to admire Kerry's ability to put together a real international coalition.

The buyer's remorse that sane democrats are likely feeling right now is probably powerful enough to cause a tear in the space/time continuum(sp).

Proof indeed that J F'n K has no momentum

Momentum=massXvelocity

J F'n K as an empty suit has no mass thus momentum = ZERO.

Also because of his "flip flops" has multiple directions, consequently Velocity=ZERO

So even if he had a few grams of mass ....the momentum =ZERO

The key statement is "...the Clinton folks running it [Kerry's campaign]"

Why in the world would anyone think Clintonistas would actually work for the election of John Kerry; how does that advance The Clinton Plan to have Hillary run in '08?

The last thing the Clintons want is a democratic victory in this election.

One is stunned at opacity of the Kerry campaign not to see this. Kerry has chosen to clutch vipers to his breast and he shall reap the "benefit" of it.

The Clintonistas just want Kerry's loss not to be a debacle, they want to keep it close, but not too close; so their true candidate will have a springboard four years hence.

Kerry is desperate and he's throwing his longtime supporters and workers over the side in order to make room at the top for Clintonistas. No sign of Hill or Bill making tv commercials for Kerry. How come?

Further elaboration:

Vector sum of FLIP-FLOP=ZERO

With furious Flip-flop rate, Gravity waves are generated.
At the extreme, these gravity waves and the noted attraction of the libs to this furious flip-flop activity devolve into a singularity, thereby creating a Black hole into which all libs, light and knowlege (of libs) collapse.

So, perhaps he needs to increase his flip-flop activity to create the Black hole into which all the libs and their knowledge (or lack-therof) can dissapear.

Sorry, I've been reading Hawking again.......
