you know, I think you're right. Looks like it dipped west. I thought last night that once it hits shore it could even deflect WSW but none of the models show that

My sons (in Deland) have decided not to evacuate this time. Keep those prayers going, folks.

I'm worried that a lot of folks are too weary and cash poor to evacuate again.

Prayers and well wishes for you all. As I've said thread after thread, I have family and friends in Florida and am thinking of them.

You and me both.

Waited all year for a vacation, checked into a Miami Beach hotel on Friday, ordered to evacuate on Saturday, staying at wife's relatives until it blows over, and proceeding to the Keys on Monday.

Guess I'll have to sleep late, sit on the couch and watch DVD's instead of walking miles in the hot sun to take the wife shopping ;-)

I can only imagine how depressing all of this is. I think you've hit the nail on the head though when you said maybe it's the unknown. If you knew exactly what was going to happen you could have a definite plan. As it is now you're worrying about whether you have every possible contingency covered and I know that can drive one crazy.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as they are with all people who are in the path. I wish there was something more I could do than pray.

Winds 72mph; gusts to 83mph. Pressure 28.82" (down half an inch from last report!). That's 975 mb

Wow! Has it even been an hour? Must be very close the eye by now.

Very good! Keep smiling. ;)

We're in Citrus County and we'll be here long after this wench leaves.

Maybe not as good a shape ... but we'll be here.

Think this hurricane should be called "Hillary" with all the hot wind blowing. So far in Melbourne/Palm Bay it's raining and a little windy. Lots of people here have decided to ride this out since the traffic, lack of gas, and money have given them no choice.

Lots of people here have decided to ride this out since the traffic, lack of gas, and money have given them no choice.

These people are hurricaned-out and that makes this one even more dangerous than the previous ones. Many people are sticking it out because they left before and it turned out they didn't need to. It is "Liitle Boy who Cried Wolf" syndrome in their minds. They use traffic, money and gas as excuses, IMHO. If they knew that they would be hit directly, they would find a way out. But they don't know and they have Hurricane fatigue.

But this is a real threat. I pray that they will be safe, and most/all of them will be.

I don't know, anything less then a Cat 5 just wouldn't do Hillary justice. How about "TeeRAAzza"?

Zoobee, thanks, I am in North Miami Beach and we are not seeing anything special. Hopefully it will stay that way. I do work in Boca though and I am getting the feeling I won't be working on Mon.

Dolphins: Miami-Pittsburgh game will not occur on Sunday
by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
Saturday, September 25, 2004

News
According to the Dolphins' official website, the Dolphins-Steelers game scheduled for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday will be postponed. "After conferring with local authorities and the NFL, in the best interest of public safety it was decided that under no circumstances will the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers be played on Sunday afternoon," Dolphins team president Eddie Jones said in a statement. "The Commissioner's office has asked the two teams to consider the larger public safety issues to determine when the game can best be played." According to several reports, the league is considering Monday or even Tuesday depending on the weather.

Views
This is perhaps better news for fantasy owners planning to use Dolphins or Steelers this week, as Sunday's weather will not be conducive for scoring points. However, the uncertainty is also disconcerting for fantasy owners who need to set their lineup on Sunday morning. At this point, it wouldnot be out of the question to rule out all players on both teams except for elite wide receiver Hines Ward. No matter when the game is played, it promises to be a low-scoring affair, and the passing games on both sides are led by first-time starters A.J. Feeley and rookie Ben Roethlisberger. If you have decent alternatives to Duce Staley, Chris Chambers, and Randy McMichael, we recommend using them.
