SECURITY TEAM FINDS IED ALONG MAJOR OIL PIPELINE
TIKRIT, Iraq — A private security company responsible for pipeline security discovered an improvised explosive device along a major oil pipeline west of Balad Sept. 24.
The security patrol contacted the 1st Infantry Division, and an explosive ordnance disposal team was sent to the site. The EOD team was able to remove the device and destroy it without harming the oil pipeline.
The flow of oil was not interrupted during the incident.
