There is more in the article, but this section of his article really spoke to FREEPERS! Oh YEAH! Did you guys know we are right and hard nosed civiians? LOL Finally...someone GETS IT! < snicker >:

That was the first blow, from which all the others followed. Several FReepers in the Pajama Posse researched the matter further on a series of threads that night, to be joined by a number of bloggers, among them Ratherbiased.com, PowerLineBlog.com, LittleGreenFootballs.com and Instapundit.com. (The term blog derives from Web log. I believe Pajama Posse is a facetious reference to FReepers who do research on the Internet while in their pajamas. While some FReepers are lawyers and current or former journalists -- the late Barbara Olson was a FReeper, though not an active one -- many of its best researchers are simply bright, hard-nosed civilians with a modem and a large library.)

I remember following the thread that night and when Buckhead posted his critique of the memos I thought "Wow, here is a guy thinking outside of the box"...

Actually, the typewriter fonts used in the CBS documents existed at the time, but were not commonly used, and certainly not by the Texas Air National Guard, much less by Col Killian, who did not type memos.

Similar fonts existed, but TrueType Times New Roman had not yet been invented.

BTW, does anyone have any quality scans of documents printed in metal-type Times New Roman? I've noticed that in all of the books I've examined that were printed before phototypesetting, the lowercase "f" has a short flag compared with those in more recent texts. I would guess that difference between old and new fonts would exist between the lead and computer versions of Times New Roman, but I'm not positive.

1 - Thanks for the excellent post.

"I did my best on editing the html."

sometimes this is really hard, and there is one trick which can sometimes help - copy the story into Notepad Text, and then recopy it and paste it into FR for posting. This will sometimes clean up the strange HTML code.

And Vanity Fair writer Dominick Dunne said, "I love Dan Rather. I'm so sad for him. I feel sorry for him. I think someone set him up."

Geez, Dom, did someone set you up when you made the accusations about Chandra Levy's killing being a murder-for-hire job by Gary Condit's rough trade buddies?

I was a big fan of Dunne's lovely actress daughter, Dominique, who was killed by her estranged boyfriend. If you saw Poltergeist, you remember her screaming "WHAT'S HAPPENING?!!"
