"So maybe the real message to the Dan Rathers of the world is this: You don’t count."

How true, LOL! Great find. Thanks for posting.

The media elite begins to panic as they realize "free speech" means not just for journalists but for "those people" who live in the great expanse between the coasts and have the annoying habit of screwing up "their" elections!

When you get the end of Bray's column, click on "Previous Story" for a piece by Kay Everett on the "Powernomics" proposal in Detroit.

Drudge reports that CBS News is running dead last in the ratings, and dropping like a stone.

In ultra-liberal NY City, Rather's 6:30 EST broadcast is the lowest of ALL COMMERCIAL BROADCAST CHANNELS. Below reruns of third rate sitcoms and the Simpsons.

DOH!!

How can they forbid an excerpt?

I can understand sites not wanting their entire article posted somewhere, but an excerpt? Sheez!

Let me restate, summarize and comment on what Thomas Bray of the Detroit News writes,
"Rather and pals at CBS say they were 'misled.' ... they didn’t ask hard question of sources because, well, they didn’t want to .... The real story is that there was nobody at CBS willing to pull the plug. Mapes worked the story for five years -- a story that doesn’t come together in five years .. good idea to move on.

"The bigger story: the commanding heights of American public opinion — the media, academia and Hollywood — are rendered obsolete, and with them the ideological monopoly of the left. ... the left may still thrill to the messages of Redford, Streisand and Mickey Moore BUT ever since the premier of F911, Bush’s poll numbers have gone up.

"What's going on is the left, purportedly once the home of genuine populism, has totally lost touch with the people and has cowardly retreated into an elitist shell. ... the national media are so well to the left of the public that it's the become the exactly kind of media we used to hear about from the Soviet Union.

"CBS lost HALF its viewers from 1981 to 2001, as Bozwell says in a new book, “Weapons of Mass Distortion: The Coming Meltdown of the Liberal Media,” Bozwell asserts that Hillary Clinton’s “vast right-wing conspiracy” was a pre-emptive strike designed to scare the press into hewing to the liberal line.

"What the episode Rather shows is that there is indeed a conspiracy -- a vast left-wing conspiracy — and like most conspiracies, it’s coming unraveled. ... Coincidentally their “Fortunate Son” ads started appearing just after the “60 Minutes” hit job? Ha! The same Rather was forced to apologize after being caught in 2001 delivering the "I'm a Big Man" speech at a Democratic Almagamated Extortionist's pic-nic fund-raiser in Austin, Texas.

"The real message to Rathers of the world: You don’t count. You never really did, either.. "

Please note that the above is MY REWRITE of the Essay d'Bray. If he wants his own words pure and pristine -- then let us EXCERPT!

I'll bookmark the link.

I think that's really dumb of the sites that won't allow even a one paragraph excerpt. I seriously doubt they could defend that in court.

But it is their loss. If they don't want all the traffic that FR generates, so be it. I just wouldn't post from their sites at all.

On the other hand, I understand the requests to post only an excerpt. Those sites do want the traffic generated by FR.

What appears to be going on is that the left, once the home of genuine populism, has been losing touch with the people and retreating into an elitist shell.

I saw a recent study on social standing vs. political views. There truly has been a tectonic shift; the dems control the outer edges of poverty and wealth, hence the rampant elitism (or faux-elitism) while middle-America is a conservative stronghold, hence the common sense.

Grrrrrrrate piece!!

Bray seems to have stumbled onto the obvious. LMAO

Practically ever since the premier of “Fahrenheit 9/11,” Bush’s poll numbers have been going up.

Although it's not because of Michael Moron's propaganda piece that W's numbers have been going up; it's because of the terrible 'Rat convention, the great GOP convention, the Swift Boat ads and appearances and finally the flip-flopping Traitor's idiotic campaign!!!

No matter what happens at SeeBS, whether Blather retires or stays, we have a huge pinata to knock around for years and years to come...
Reagan & Nixon must be really enjoying the show!

Now if the GOP could just get the magic "60" in the Senate!

Semper Fi,
Kelly

I know it's not always possible, but it would be great if the poster calling attention to an article from one of these restrictive sources could briefly summarize it in his or her own own words along with the link to the story. I actually hate to click on the links for those sites which refuse to even allow an excerpt.

I was just considering making up a short note to email off to them each time this arises to tell them I just made the decision NOT to go to their site because of their no excerpt policy and asking them to reconsider it.

Don't even bother posting stories like this if they can do not allow excerpts. There are other fish in the sea... too many of those, in fact.
