Dear Margaret Drabble, I think that you'll find that what you suffer from is an "ancient hatred" (my words for it).
It's the irrational hatred of what's right and good in the world and life.
It's an evil that possesses a person and makes them act like a rabid animal towards things that are good, like the U.S. and Israel, and even God.
I know of a person or two like this and I know the signs.
Only by finding "The Light" can you be cured and find peace.

My anti-Americanism has become almost uncontrollable. It has possessed me, like a disease. It rises up in my throat like acid reflux, that fashionable American sickness. I now loathe the United States and what it has done to Iraq and the rest of the helpless world.
Seek professional help from a licensed mental health practitioner, or from a competent exorcist.

I'm sure she doesn't care but if not for THIS AMERICA, they probably would have followed up 9/11 with a nice pretty attack on somewhere in Britain while Gore pleaded very nicely for them to "come on guys, I'm serious now, please stop...come on..."

I cannot help but agree, and I beleive much of the world shares in this loathing. Too bad you consider yourself as hate filled as the author of this screed. If much of the world hates America as this deluded woman (and you) do, then why do they still immigrate here?
If you live in American, please leave. We don't need or want people who hate us and who work to tear us down.

They call this justice and the rule of law. America is holding more than 600 people in detention in Guantánamo Bay, indefinitely, and it may well hold them there for ever. Guantánamo Bay has become the Bastille of America. They call this serving the cause of democracy and freedom. And just imagine, if Guantanimo were under Cuban sovereignty and the same people were being held indefinitely by her hero Fidel she wouldn't find a thing wrong with it!

BIOGRAPHY
Margaret Drabble was born June 5, 1939 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.
Her father, John Frederick Drabble, was a barrister, a county court judge and a novelist. Author A.S. Byatt is her older sister.
She attended the Mount School, York, a Quaker boarding-school and was awarded a major scholarship to Newnham College, Cambridge, where she read English and received double honors (a "starred first"). After being graduated from Cambridge University, she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford during which time she understudied for Vanessa Redgrave.
Those last two words explain alot.
Shut up Margaret

I have to keep reminding myself that if Bush hadn't been (so narrowly) elected, we wouldn't be here...One (accidental) nugget of truth in the whole sorry article...
She's right, without Bush, she might not be here (on earth) anymore. The terrorists would likely have gotten to London if we hadn't kept them so busy running for their lives for the past three years..

I don't blame her on this one. I have heard the British make some pretty nasty burgers.

Based on her tirade, Margaret has failed "DE-Test". She is clearly a DE-Mented, De-Ranged and De-Plorable person.

Let me rephrase that:
America has repeatedly saved the world and we are not socialists.
I can see how that might stick in her throat.

Hatred is an addictive drug - it feels so good you don't even notice it eating you up. It feels good because it becomes a convenient vessel in which to store ones shortcomings.
Sounds like she filled hers to the brim.
