A man who put up his fists for the right to sunbathe nude outside a bar in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood has died of injuries he suffered in the fight, police said Tuesday.
Jay Carbone, 52, hit his head during the scuffle at the Pendulum bar and died at Davies Medical Center. No one has been arrested, but police are investigating whether homicide charges should be brought.
Police Inspector Herman Jones said the incident had occurred Thursday afternoon when Carbone came to the Pendulum on 18th Street, ordered drinks, disrobed on the back terrace and proceeded to sunbathe.
After about an hour, another patron complained to Carbone and asked that he put his clothes on.
"If you don't like it, get out,'' Carbone told the offended man, Jones said.
The patron went inside and complained to the bartender, Jones said, then went back out onto the terrace.
At that point, Jones said, Carbone became aggressive, although the inspector stopped short of saying he had started the fight...

There was a thread just the other day that was related to this. Apparently, public nudity is legal in San Francisco, so long as it is not accompanied by lewd behavior.
Sounds like this behavior is spreading. But it does come with risks.

"If you don't like it, get out,'' Carbone told the offended man, Jones said."
Translation. I reserve the right to be as offensive to anyone as I can possibly be. You have no right to complain.

Why is it Homosexuals always have to be "Hey Look at me, Look at me" Being Gay is their problem but to expose yourself for others to see is our problem. I'm tired of Gays thinking they have different rights than others and there excluded from having to follow the rules.

SF is such a strange place.
My company took us on a bus for a project reward and the driver got on the PA and said:
"No if you will turn to your left, you will see 200 nude people painted green, standing in the park."

With a name like 'Pendulum' it's pretty clear what kind of establishment it is.
Invite trouble and you're sure to get it. Zero sympathy from me.

Carbone was not a problem patron but did hold strong views, Nakamura said. "He was very opinionated and somewhat obnoxious,'' he said.Hmmm . . . a common problem. Sounds like a guy whose mouth likes to write checks his fists can't cash.

This is EXACTLY why my dad warned me NEVER to sunbathe nude in front of bars.
I'm glad I listened to him!

The Pendulum... Maybe he swung both ways?More likely just dangling....I don't guess it's exactly a complement for a 52 year-old man on Castro Street (of all places!) to get beaten for exposing himself in a gay bar. He must have been fug-ugly.
