NRA ad campaign portrays Kerry as poodle
By LIZ SIDOTI ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
WASHINGTON -- Sen. John Kerry is portrayed as a sweater-wearing poodle with a pink bow in an upcoming advertising campaign by the National Rifle Association, mocking his attempts to portray himself as friendly to gun sports and saying, "That dog don't hunt."
"John Kerry says he supports sportsmen's rights. But his record says something else," the ads say.
Billboards and newspaper ads will run this week, followed by TV commercials, Chris W. Cox, the group's chief lobbyist, said Wednesday. The NRA also plans to emblazon the slogan and the poodle on mailings, hats and T-shirts.
The ad campaign, which the group says will cost several million dollars, is a play on the old saying that means something is so outrageous that it can't be true.
"We need to capture the attention of every gun owner and hunter in the country so they're not fooled by a photo op," Cox said.
Kerry, in appearances in states considered battlegrounds in the presidential race, portrays himself as friendly to hunters and other sportsmen and has gone skeet shooting and trap shooting in front of the media. He says he's been a hunter since age 12 and a gun owner who supports the Second Amendment.
However, the Massachusetts senator has voted in favor of gun control. Kerry supports requiring background checks at gun shows and supported extending the recently expired ban on assault-style weapons. He opposes granting gun makers immunity from civil lawsuits.
"It's amazing that the leadership of the NRA would attack a lifelong hunter," said Kerry spokesman Chad Clanton. "John Kerry has been hunting since he was a young boy. Anyone who tells you otherwise just isn't telling you the truth."
yes, they were hunting dogs, a standard poodle stands about three feet tall, they are very large dogs. also very smart dogs till they were dumbed down with all the inbreeding to get them down to such a small size and that is all most people see today.
bump
Wisconsin and Penn as well.
"He voted to ban the .30-30."
Do what? What bogus excuse were they using to justify banning the .30-30?
First rifle I ever bought was a .30-30.
Tee-hee. Shove it, Chad.
IIRC, it was the "cop killer bullet" hysteria. Kerry voted to ban anything that could penetrate a Class II kevlar vest.
Which of course includes any center fire rifle bullet and a good number of pistol bullets.
And the "poodle cut" was to keep their vital organs and joints warm as they retrieved from water.
I have never owned a poodle, but studied up on them recently before purchasing a Labradoodle pup! I expect she could make a fine hunting dog.
According to Kennedy and Kerry the 30-30, and any caliber that is more powerful, are all "Cop Killer" rounds.
Pretty stupid as the lowly .223 will also penetrate the average "bullet proof vest", as will nearly any other center fire rifle cartridge.
Remember when the MSM taught criminals to shoot L.E. in the head?
Now Kerry is teaching them to use full power rifles instead of .22's and .380's!
Those are bad things.
How did you arrive on Free Republic? Did you make a wrong turn on the information highway?
A naked French poodle is a miserable poodle! (laughing)
LOL, good one!!
Read the ad...idiot.
Kerry and his like don't want us peasants to possess anything that might be used to defend the civil liberties our forefathers bequeathed to us. They want to grab the AR15s, Kalishnikovs, Garands, etc first. That would make it easier for their JBT lackeys when they come for the pump shotguns, lever action carbines, and bolt action deer rifles. If the Fuhrer is in a generous mood we might be allowed to keep a deactivated muzzleloader for a decorative wall hanger.
Any gun owner who is stupid or greedy enough to vote for a proven gungrabber like Kerry deserves what he or she will get if they resist when the JBTs come to confiscate his/her guns.
Good one. Guess the NRA is supporting Bush.
"30-30, and any caliber that is more powerful, are all "Cop Killer" rounds"
Yeah, boy, that 19th century technology is a real danger to...to...something...I think...
I meant to send reply to you for above post--somehow, I goofed and sent it to myself!
