CBS News has tacitly admitted wrongdoing in not identifying that Beverly Cocco, the woman featured in its story about the draft. In the original CBS report, Cocco's membership in an anti-war group, People Against the Draft, was not disclosed. In a CBSNews.com piece based on the TV story, Cocco's membership was not revealed, either.
After RatherBiased.com debunked the CBS report and criticized the network for once again featuring a member of a liberal group without revealing her political background, CBS News has since gone back and changed the online version of Richard Schlesinger's story. It now informs readers that Cocco is a member of People Against the Draft. LGF first alleged that CBS had altered its page. Now we have proof positive that the network has changed its story. In the image below, the upper portion is a snapshot of Google's cached copy of the original CBS story. The lower part of the image comes from the altered CBS page. Visit the new version and you will see no correction notice of any kind.
(Note, however, that the CBSNews.com page is not a transcript and does not claim to be.)

Thanks for posting this.
Everyone should also read the excellent interview by Bill at the INDC Journal. It details how the CBS Evening News has adopted the "fake, but accurate" approach to stories.
This article is a must read......

Much like that huge old tree that died in your neighborhood, (you remember, the one everyone said ...
isn't that a shame... ?) C B/S has died.
Oh ... the "eye" is still standing, but soon someone will cut it down, or a strong wind and the termites will bring it down.
In the meanwhile let us look upon that which was once a marvel, and sigh.

They conveniently failed to mention the political orientation of People Against the Draft. I mean the name "People Against the Draft" sounds reasonable. Heck it sounds like a group I would join. The American Civil Liberties Union if you just went by their name sounds like a laudable organization. It is not until you find out the ACLU was founded by a Communist, and take a look at it activities that you find out it is a Socialist/Anti-Christian/Communist organization.

Thank you for this post.
If the language here doesn't get too foul it will be an excellent base for teaching children how much character media exhibits. They hold certain "others" to standards they do not manifest themselves.

cbs will not see this as being a problem. they need to alert america of the evil ways of bush, even if documents are forged, even if the source is off her rocker. it's the seriousness of the charges that trump the lack of evidence. another day, another fake story. why is this surprising? they have been doing this for 30 years.

There was a network that got busted for using a paid "Man-on-the-street" They got caught after someone noticed the same Man-on-the-Street in several interviews? What this DNCBS?

I just saw something strange in my local weekly TV section ( Charleston Post And Courier ). The local Fox and NBC affiliates list the Presidential Debates. The local ABC station lists "To Be Announced". But the CBS station lists it's regular Thursday night network schedule. I just thought it odd.

Is there any legal recourse against CBS news? I want on the suit if there is.
