I would say that we are losing our country, but how long can we call it OURS?
Millions of people, with no loyalty to our common culture, and hostile to the founding population of this country have come in legally and illegally.

This has real political consequences. California is no longer a Republican, much less a conservative state. New Mexico may as well be returning to Mexico. In Colorado, we are seeing the effects. Ditto Florida.

For all the talk about outreach, the fact remains that immigrants tend to be poor and have no reason to vote Republican. Their children are not assimilating into traditional America, but are being indoctrinated to the left.

I have serious issues with illegal immigration. But the history of this country is full of people who were already here looking at the latest new ethnic group to arrive on our shores and proclaim, "There goes the neighborhood."

I imagine your ancestors faced the same.

Actually, as a member of a minority that is usually poor - the Republican Party offers the most hope to poor people, if only the language of our outreach could be solidified.

We need to recruit charismatic believers within all the minority groups.

The minority groups have seen the degradation of family values and community identity as a negative effect on their children. One reason why they should vote Republican.

Minority groups tend to have stronger attachments to their choice of faith, and many of them are Christian. Yet another reason for them to vote Republican.

So, what we need is to find a way to adjust how we present our message, because I believe our message resonates best with these immigrants, above the disinformation of the Democratic party. A positive outlook, coupled with real working programs and policies that enable them to help themselves, will win them over.

Here, here.

It isn't close to being a bad thing that people want to come if we get on the stick.

Actually, my parents are both immigrants from Europe by way of Israel. I am the first person in the my immediate family born in America.
However, my loyalty is to America. As such, I am mortified to see the destruction of our unity and political cutlure. This is not a matter of "there goes the neighborhood," but there goes the country.
Are immigrants from non-western countries going to conserve either western civilization or our American culture? Are millions of poor people, many who have limited English literacy going to become good citizens? Or are they going to simply vote in the candidate who offers to give them more goodies from the government?

I feel the same. Basically if they have something of value to offer and are willing to adapt to the culture then they're in. I DON'T think we need to import more of the unending flood of poor that the most of the rest of the world produces.

We can't solve the problems of the world. We can only help those that are willing to help themselves.

BTW by adapting to the culture I merely mean 3 things that are at the core of an American; they need to learn English, adopt the American self-sufficiency mentality and be willing to fight for Country. Everything else is up to them.

I see pleny of people who are nth-generation Americans doing quite a bit to destroy this country (John Kerry being a prime example).

And recent immigrants aren't the ones who created the welfare state and our socialist systems. Who created the notion of diversity over assimilation. That was created by American liberals. Blame them.

We need to recruit charismatic believers within all the minority groups.

Economically this is feasable. culturally, it only applies if immigrants are already properly assimilated.

The minority groups have seen the degradation of family values and community identity as a negative effect on their children. One reason why they should vote Republican.
If voters looked to the long term interests, you would be correct. However, too many simply want a bigger welfare check.

Minority groups tend to have stronger attachments to their choice of faith, and many of them are Christian. Yet another reason for them to vote Republican.
1. This has not helped among African Americans.
2. Too many in general belong to Chuches that preach the Social(ist) Gospel instead of the Gospels.

So, what we need is to find a way to adjust how we present our message, because I believe our message resonates best with these immigrants, above the disinformation of the Democratic party. A positive outlook, coupled with real working programs and policies that enable them to help themselves, will win them over.
Outreach has failed so far.
Outreach alone is not enough. We need to Americanize immigrants, reduce the flow of immigrants, and then conduct outreach.

Kerry is a Third generation American, as well as a Mayflower descendant.

I blame the liberals, PC left, and post-nationalist libertarians.
The fact that thje system is broken means taht we need to fix it adn reduce the flow of immigrants until it is fixed. We should not say "why bother"!

We need Americanization programs.

See my post #8. I see that as more of a problem with liberal American citizens who created the welfare state over the nature of our current immigrants.

Nope, but they sure do get a lot of use out of it.

Do you think that poor immigrants in the NY slums of 1905 would have jumped on a food stamp with both feet had they been made available to them?

Well we have some experience with this after the crash in 29, there were soup lines, and people got in them.

Mexicans are the majority in Mexico, and they have done a stellar job in their country, so let's give them a chance here. What could it hurt?

The point is, most poor immigrants will jump on whatever bennies the government provides to them. The difference in 1905 was the government didn't provide all these bennies. And the people who changed that weren't immigrants, they were American liberals. If you want to blame someone for immigrant abuse of the welfare state, blame the architects of that state.
