Was just listening to Steve Malzberg's radio program. He said Jim Lehrer winked at Kerry as he (Kerry) was leaving the podium. Did anyone see this?
If he did it's on tape.
I think this was already mentioned in another thread. But who knows, maybe Lehrer swings both ways...
Someone mentioned this earlier, so there may be something to it. However, I wonder if he did the same to both?
He simply liked Kerrys rouge, lipstick and tan in a bottle. No big deal.
Yes, others here did see this.
LOL!
We all KNOW that Lehrer is a huge liberal DemocRAT so it wouldn't surprise me if he blew Kerry a kiss!
Kerry's points Kerry had better command of his facts. I don't agree with some of them and disagree with the context many others were presented, but Kerry delivered them confidently and smoothly. Kerry came off as very knowledgable on the issues and details. You might not like his positions, but you can't say he is ignorant.
I also think that someone tipped off Kerry to the questions, despite Lehrer's claim that he had told nobody. Too many times Kerry made a closing remark in a rebuttal only to have that be the next question directed at him.
In his very first response, he closed with a mention of Homeland Security briefly and added "which we'll talk about a little bit later". Sure enough, a question directed at him later was specifically about Homeland Security. That alone could be dismissed as a predictable topic if not for the others.
He ended a rebuttal saying Bush had made a "colossal error of judgment" going into Iraq, and Lehrer's next question was "What colossal misjudgments, in your opinion, has President Bush made in these areas?".
He ended a rebuttal bringing up the experience of Vietnam, and Lehrer's very next question was "Speaking of Vietnam, you spoke to Congress in 1971, after you came back from Vietnam" and then asked if troops were dying today for a mistake as he had said back then.
He ended a rebuttal saying he had a plan for fixing Iraq and Lehrer's very next question was "Speaking of your plan" (isn't it odd how many times Kerry just happened to "speaking of" Lehrer's next question?), what are the specifics for "for ending major U.S. military involvement in Iraq?".
Kerry scored in pointing out the Osama got away in Tora Bora because we relied on Afghan warlords rather than using our own troops. That was a tactical mistake, and was probably political to let the Afghans feel like they had accomplished something. I wish Bush had pointed out that we did not have large numbers of ground troops in the area at the time, but he's probably better off not debating tactical field strategies.
Kerry scored by mentioning all of the domestic areas where security has not been improved, or not enough. Lack of cargo inspections, securing tunnels and bridges, cuts in local fire and police.
Kerry scored huge (my opinion) pointing out slow rate in securing loose nuclear material in Russia. Our biggest fear is a nuclear attack. The idea that we could be dragging our feet in preventing that hits a chord.
Kerry did a fantastic job of throwing out all of his old inconsistencies and keep all his responses consistent with his current position. He did not make Gore's mistake of getting belligerent or loud. Based purely on the speech, knowing nothing more, I might well vote for him IF I was confident he intended to do what he said he would do and would still feel the same way tomorrow, next week, next year.
Well you didn't think Kerry got that Manicure for nothing do you? haha
Probably not. But over on other threads, some freepers are thinking that the Lehrer's questions were biased against Bush, and that kerry possibly knew the questions before the debate. The "wink" has just been added to the mix.
Savage saw the bias. He was screaming at Lehrer
Lehrer asked Bush that awful question that he should tell all what Kerry's flaws are that can be criticized. Bush was being set up but he didn't bite. The MSM fix was in.
After learning that CBS contacted Lockhart suggesting that he should contact Burkett, I would not be at all surprised if Lehrer/PBS slipped Kerry the questions pre-debate. Nope, not at all.
yeah, i was incensed.... it was a wink, smile and a handshake...
This may sound crazy but Kerry was too prepared ,could he have known what the questions were before time?Much too calm for kerry?
SEE I am not the only one to think this kerry knew the questions before time
If Kerry knew the question before time that wink is very telling and important Come on freepers get to work!!!!
And to think we will have to endure 3 more of these "set-ups".
