Yes, it is true. As one Freeper put it, the questions were basically in this format:

President Bush, why do you suck?
Senator Kerry, why do you think President Bush sucks?

Pardon my unladylike language, but this is exactly how it was. I also think that Kerry had the questions before hand, since his answers seemed to seque quite nicely into the next question.

Theere is a thread which lists all the questions, and without the responses you can see exactly how anti-Bush they were. I recommend reading the threads about the suspicioins that Kerry had knowledge of the questions, as well.

LOL! Pretty good description of the questioning. Also, don't forget the "character" question that could only politically be answered one way. "I think my opponent is a terrific person."

Kerry responded, "Thank you for your sentiments. I think so, too, Mr. President. I enjoy laughing at your daughters' remarks from time to time."

What you said! Kerry answered so fast that there was no question in my mind that he knew the questions in advance.

Leher's questions were biased. I wouldn't be shocked if Kerry had the actual questions in advance, although I suspect that both sides had a pretty good idea of the subject matter of the questions. So what. Life is not fair. Life is not supposed to be fair. If GWB was a good debator, then he should have been able to exploit the situation despite the bias. None of the questions were really difficult and all the questions should have been anticipated by both sides, even without advance warning. So please, everyone, stop the whining and crying and the excuse making, because we're starting to sound like the RATs. BTW, I'm not concerned about GWB's yeoman performance, because if I recall correctly, he didn't do all the well in the first debate against Ghore in 2000, but by just about every account he kicked ass in the last debates.

lol, I personally am very proud that President Bush showed his leadership by not jumping into the quagmire of lies, that JFKerry spewed.

Seemed the plan by JFKerry was to tell as many lies as possible, trying to provoke President Bush to respond with an out of character response. Such as Senator Kerry you are a lying S.O.B., next question.

I also think that Kerry had the questions before hand, ...

Surely you don't think a media that would (to borrow Henry Kissenger's favorite word) promulgate forged documents in an attempt to influence a presidential election would stoop so low as to share the questions beforehand with his adversary(?) </sarcasm>

I strongly agree and I hope Leherer sp? gets repeatedly taken to the woodshed and shredded over it until he's best not show his face in public again.

LOL!!! That is soo funny and true!
Here's my take:
Bush lasered in on Kerry's NK theory, and he was about to pounce when Lehrer, spotting where this was going, inserted himself into the debate and wanted clarification that their stances were different (this was directly to Kerry). Bush announced that asbolutely they were different, and Kerry, not picking up on this, agreed. Lehrer gave him a chance to clarify and correct a stand that is basically this day's talkiing points - mulitlateral vs. bilateral/alientating allies in Europe vs. alienating allies in Asia.
He blew it, and Lehrer overtly tried to save him from himself. I am rather ticked off that nobody, but nobody, brought this up all day.

Absolutely right. Kerry sounded scripted. He probably memorized the performance days earlier. Lehrer will never admit it, but a two year old can connect the dots. Presumably the MSM will continue the pattern, and why not? If it works, don't break it. So the next 'debate' will be more of the same.

Now that Karen and Karl have Kerry's measure, they should be able to innoculate GW. The next debate we'll see the same steadfast GW, but he'll hit harder and won't let Kerry off the hook. But we still need the Swiftboat ad out there, and we need GW ads rebutting Kerry's lies.

The fact that Kerry would raise taxes as well as do away with the tax breaks and rebates. That mandatory military service...bait and switch deal...you serve four years and go to college. If there's money (which there won't). And of course, there definitely won't be enough to pay for the college of your choice.

Meanwhile, Kerry's hanging the 'draft' albatross around GW's neck with the MSM's connivance. All this, plus the security issue for America needs blitzing. Parents, soccer moms and dads, any with teenaged kids...these are people who'll vote their pocketbooks and/or safety of their children/draft. The tax hike issue, outsourcing national security to our enemies...this stuff should sink Kerry. I can't believe this country would be stupid enough to elect that man. Europe, et al. must be delirious with gleeful anticipation.

In response to one question, I recall Kerry talking about Iraq then touching upon homeland security...then, deferring to Lehrer by saying that homeland security would be discussed later. How did he know that?
