Kerry said towards the end of the debate:
"As president, I will expand our Army by 40,000 troops so that we have more soldiers to find and fight the enemy. I will double our Army Special Forces capacity. And we will accelerate the development and deployment of new technologies to track down and bring down terrorists."
I also recall Kerry saying that he would deploy troops to Africa, and Bush countered that he is working the African National Congress to provide troops instead of Americans.
Would Kerry require a draft to expand the military to this extent?

Teresa will loan him the money to buy mercenaries, "Heinz's Hessians".
There is no evidence of that, but the seriousness of your charge is sufficient to launch an investigation...
My guess 0%!
Will that be 57 varieties of mercs?
So9
if you start a draft you will get millions. 40,000 increase doesn't need a draft.
I relish the thought....
I recall a specific point in the debate where Kerry said he would expand the Army by two active duty divisions..
Well, the draft IS a democrat bill.
He'll need more than that when he starts bombing Russia for fighting off Muslim "freedom fighters".
IF GW can't get them to volunteer by 40,000 increase while retaining what we have then how would sKerry? Our Military knows that GW respects and loves them. They also know sKerry LOATHES them and would use them as slick willie did for meals on wheels missions, while all the while not raising their pay or providing them with the proper equipment to accomplish a mission. It would be a repeat of carter and slick for our Military.

".. That's why, in my plan, I add two active duty divisions to the United States Army, not for Iraq, but for our general demands across the globe. I also intend to double the number of special forces so that we can do the job we need to do with respect fighting the terrorists around the world. And if we do that, then we have the ability to be able to respond more rapidly..."
Correction: TWO bills by the Dems. Rangle from NY, and another lib...
Rangle, a dem, sponsored HR163 in the House; Hollings, also a dem, sponsored S89 in the Senate.
I will say Kerry is insane if he thinks he can double the size of the Special Forces. At this time they are having trouble keeping the present levels. There is a huge demand for these soldiers on the private side with large six figure pay. I'm former SF and I see offers all the time.
