"The Reagan babies dont buy the liberal crapola. The country is shifting. That is my point."
Maybe it is shifting, seems to me it's more a stalemate. One third liberal, one third conservative and one third sits on the fence waiting to see who photographs better.

Reminds me of that Man's Show "Prevent Womens Suffrage" skit

Thank you for posting. Both Mrs. Navy SEAL and I grew up with a small town high school/paper. Brought back a lot of memories.
I think that there would be quite a few bloggers and even some newspapers (The Washington Times) that would be interested in your story. Probably even the RNC/GOP would love to read it.

Very well written and very insightful. Thanks very much for posting. Hopefully this article will make its way around the "net."

Yes it does kill the fun -
I have a question, if you wouldn't mind - since you are from Texas -
I heard that some schools give numbers to students and from then on they are known by that number. Not their name. One woman told me her daughter lived in Texas and her children went to one of those schools. One day the daughter got a call saying one of her children was not at school - they used the number to identify that child - but it turned out the number was wrong and they had called her by mistake -
My question is: Are numbers replacing the use of names in some schools in Texas - ? If so, what is the reason, if I may ask -
Thanks - just wondering -

It's pretty darned close to a Bears helmet. I have to tell you, though, photographing black helmets, jerseys and pants in a dimly lit stadium is tough. My best football pics are usually when they're traveling and wearing the white jerseys.

Wow, thanks. I enjoy writing, but I always feel naked after writing something. You reveal so much of yourself when you write sincerely that it's scary to put it out there.

I keep telling people there is a paradigm shift and national referendum on Vietnam. The politics of Vietnam and the liberals ideology is in severe decline. Rejection of the MSM liberal message has only been accelerated by Rathergate. Kerry is their heir apparent, and they may be heartened by the debate. They can not win. They will not win. No one wants Vietnam and the years of self doubt and self hate all over again.
That isnt true. The larger picture tells me that this is a referendum on the War Powers Act and the people of this country don't even know it. Vietnam and Iraq are "debacles" because Congress abdicated it's responsibility so when the going gets tough it falls on the executive. Further, it falls on the executive branch to determine national priorities. It's the ultimate weaseling out for Congress and the ultimate loss for our nation.
As long as this Act remains intact our nation will wilt under threats both great and small. If you want to go to war you need Congress to debate and declare a war on behalf of all Americans.
Iraq is a just war, it's a war we cannot afford to lose but we've lost the political will. Why? Because creeps like Kerry can abdicate responsibility by claiming "it was only a vote" to give the President the power and not hamstring the executive. It's a lose-lose for the nation and a win-win for our increasingly spineless congress.
As usual the nation is harking at the branches of evil and missing the root. And, as usual, the MSM is too ignorant of history and foreign affairs to understand what the hell is going on.

It means "Hook 'em Horns", which is another way to say "I love you" in Texan.

Thanks for a wonderful, well-written insight into small-town Texas (and America).

I was over visiting the Dummies (I took a shower afterwards) the other night and they were buying the paper's sob story about having to close down and a bunch were making pledges of moneyto send to help.

Great story and well written. The liberals are letting their hatred of Bush ruin them. Very short sighted move for the paper.

In Leon's defense, he turned down the offers of money from outside interests, and I know that there were some. Apparently, he didn't think it would be ethical. The Peace House is definitely outside money coming in to use Crawford as a staging point for anti-Bush propaganda, but Leon's a local guy who has run papers around here for years. He's Democrat, and always has been, but I don't think it's an outside influence thing.

It's not a Hook 'em Horns. I know. UT '77. A lot of the teams around here have hand symbols. There's the Hook 'em Horns, when Texas scores a touchdown. The thumb up "Gig em Aggies", for when A&M scores a touchdown, the claw "Sic em Bears" for when Baylor scores a touchdown (usually only seen about twice a year), and several others. This is supposed to be a pirate hat. Hey, there's only so many hand symbols you can come up with without being obscene.
