This Sunday morning my husband left the house to buy a newspaper, drove by the Republican Headquarters at Chambersburg and Washington Streets, and saw graffiti written all over the plate glass windows -- some swear words and something about soldiers dying.
This Republican office is closed Sunday. We reported it to 911 (state police, as the local police have limited hours and were not on duty). We also reported it to local Rep. Stephen Maitland's office (on an answering machine as they are not open), and reported it to the AP.
As noted above in an earlier article, sometime Thursday after the presidential debate, somebody threw 2 beer bottles through a plate glass window of the same office, created a massive hole and shattered the window. We went up there to get a replacement sign as our Bush sign was stolen from our yard the night of the debate. The office opened at noon and the pregnant office worker was close to tears, worried about her safety and the safety of her baby. Approx. 2 weeks earlier, someone shot the windows with a pellet gun, damaging but not breaking the glass.
Link to the Gettysburg Times: there is a tiny article somewhere in the crime section about the broken window.
thanks!
It would add a prohibitive cost to the Bush campaign. That's what terrorism does, whether it's Al Qaeda forcing us to implement extensive airport screening, or Demopuke operatives engaging in thug tactics to frighten the opposition.
The only answer is a surveillance camera. I would imagine between now, the election and inauguration that more violence/vandalism will occur.
The local police have "limited hours and were not on duty"? What's up with that? Is Gettysburg that down and out that you have no police protection at an office that has been vandalized twice now? I'm really glad I live in Texas, where even in the smallest burgs, the local sheriff keeps an eye on things all week. I'd seriously consider moving if the union/Dem thugs run the place.
The National Park Service, however, has rangers/Park Police on duty at night -- on the battlefield, not the town.
Does anyone here remember when Carville was managing some politician in Europe and the opposition candidate's office was broken into? I think there was a window broken to get in. This incident reminds me of that, but I've forgotten the details. Anybody know them?

After the Clinton victory, Carville began to focus on foreign consulting. Since that time, Carville's political clients have included the following: Greek Prime Minister Constantine Mitsotakis; Brazilian President Fernando Enrique Cardoso; Honduran Prime Minister Carlos Flores; President Jamil Mahuad of Ecuador; the Liberal Party of Canada; British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Sao Paulo Mayor Celso Pitta; Argentine Economic Minister Domingo Carvallo; Francis Labastida of Mexico; Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Basdeo Panday; and President Hipolito Mejia of the Dominican Republic. In 1999, Carville led Ehud Barak to Victory in his campaign to become Prime Minister of Israel.
No yet. I suspect the fur will start flying today -- but I'm away this week and won't be much in touch.
The West Allis, WI Bush-Cheney office was invaded by protestors yesterday while most volunteers were away hearing Laura Bush speak. They used a bull horn and jumped on the furniture to intimidate workers. The latest word is that no charges will be filed.
It's pretty sad and pathetic how democRATS are acting. I would expect this from a child, not adults!! are republicans doing the same thing?? Vandalizing the jackass' hQ's????
It's the ghost of that damn Democrat General George Edward Pickett, rising from the dead!
I think it's more like the ghosts of the communists from the last century. All these tactics -- vandalism, bullying, intimidation -- remind me of Lenin & Co. when they were starting out.
Comrade Kerry's
Kerry's
Goon
Bridage
No one's said a word about it for eight days, you thread-necro.
After all, nobody was trying to recount votes or anything when they marched in (heh heh).
What's that supposed to mean?
Thread-necro? I like it -- even more than your husband's picknose designation! :)
Excellent acronym. "Kerry's Goon Brigade" Bush/Cheney 2004
Whut the hell is that? :o
