Producer David Zucker, a "Sept. 12 Republican", tells family to "leave it blank"
on the scene at Liberty Film Festival | 10-3-04 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 10/03/2004 10:27:34 PM PDT by doug from upland

Write/Producer/Director/Actor David Zucker, who has produced movies such as Airplane, Police Squad, Naked Gun, and Phone Booth, was one of the panelists today at the Liberty Film Festival in West Hollywood.

One of the more memorable comments of the 3-day festival was made by Zucker during the panel discussion with other producers, writers, and actors.

Zucker's family has been a typical Jewish Democratic family forever. He has now become the black sheep of the family since announcing his intention to vote for George Bush this year for president. The family was almost in shock to hear that.

Zucker calls himself a "Sept. 12 Republican." For him, everything changed on Sept. 11, 2001. He recognizes the stakes in the war against the Islamofascists.

Although his mom will not consider voting for a Republican, he keeps sending her emails to educate her a little bit.

As an alternative to voting for a Republican he has given his mom and the rest of the family another way out. Because they don't like Kerry very much, but it would be heresy to vote for Bush, he is urging his relatives to "just leave it blank."

Now that is creative. Democrats, if you have doubts about Kerry, do your civic duty and vote for senators and congressmen and state officials, but leave the vote for the president blank. We can live with that.

Judging by David Zucker's year of birth (1947), his mother is one of the GIMME Generation (formerly known as the Greatest Generation or the World War 2 Generation). Why is it that people from this era think they have to keep giving FDR their vote 60 years after FDR died?

Only one problem: when Kerry's lawyers see that they voted for other down-ballot Dems, they will sue claiming that the "voters' intent" was to vote for Kerry. If they get a Democrat judge, they'll get to count it anyway.

I suppose people of Jewish faith and origin have a paricular insight into this. The question is: Does Bush represent Jewish values or is there a synergy between the "War on Terror" and the countless intifidas?

Playing on the success of the Reagan Democrats, the Bush team should be developing a theme around the "Sept. 12 Republicans. They are the Democrats who recognize we are at war and Western Civilization hangs in the balance.

According to Rabbi Gottlieb, who was at the event earlier in the day, about 50% of Jews who are under 30 support President Bush.

Vote for Ralphie, leave it blank...same thing except Kerry's lawyers won't be able to count a Nader vote like they would a blank one.

I think we should push the Bush haters toward Ralphie.

As Dennis Prager puts it, Zucker's mom sees "FDR" everytime she punches the ballot for a Democrat. They need someone to explain that 17 terms is the limit.

It's interesting to see the electorate changing. I've always felt there was a synthesis between the zionist view of Isreal and the neocons vision of creating democracy in the Middle East.

That was the case with my late grandmother. As for my mom, she sees "JFK" everytime she votes democrat. "...if you are still a socialist at age forty, you have no head." Some people just cease to develop politically from adolescence. I do not see Nixon, Ford or for that matter Reagan when I vote, I am seeing George W.

Why is it that people from this era think they have to keep giving FDR their vote 60 years after FDR died?

Many are stuck in their old ways .. plus this is the generation that remember the Depression Era and the stories from that time

Which may be the reason Kerry/Edwards keeps bringing it up all the time

My mother was like that ... till Carter came along.

She would never change her registration .. but she also never voted for a Democrat President candidate after Carter

I wonder about this, too. It is extremely strange to me that a Jewish person, in this day and age, could consider themselves a Democrat! Let alone consider voting for John Kerry, a man who would probably leave Israel high and dry! They, of all people, should understand the danger posed by a "Bill Clinton" clone or worse.

Jews are obsessed with "Tolerance". They think that anyone who is "Intolerant" of anything, is sure to eventually come kick their door in waving a Nazi flag.

Therefore, since it is the Demonrat Party which is the more "Tolerant", since as the spiritual heir of Communism it "Tolerates" everything from child rape to mass murder as being the result of "Bad Environment", Jews tend to robotically vote Demonrat.

I.e, their knee-jerk attitude is, "Intolerance of ANYTHING is BAA-aa-aa-aad" while (being incapable, as are all Lieberals, of any form of abstract reasoning) it never occurs to them that ultimate tolerance also includes tolerating Islamikazis who think blowing up Jewish children is a gift to Allah, and that it's the Demonrats who make excuses for the Islamikazis.

Now, this of course applies only to the stupid ones. Any of us with brains can easily see where our real interests as Jews lie.

Did anyone else notice the age of the anti-Bush war protesters these days? Quite a bit older than the protesters from the 60's. In fact I think they're all the same people, born during the late 40's and early 50's. I was going home from work a few weeks ago and there was an anti-Bush protest going on at a town square. there were a total of FOUR protesters there and all of them were over 60 years old. I stopped and talked to them and they weren't impolite but they did seem a bit frustrated. I told them that if they didn't want to vote for Bush they could vote for Nader as an alternative and they all agreed with me, not even trying to argue the case for Kerry. What's amazing to me, though, is that there were only 4 people there at a protest like this and this is a university town (DeKalb, IL)with some 20,000 students and not a single student was there.

I use the "Shirley" line about once a week with my wife. After 12 years of marriage, she is still not amused.

"Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

"We've got to get these people to a hospital right away!"
"A hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with patients. But that's not important right now..."

...."Man, this "familial Jewish Dem vote", 60 years after FDR just defies all logic".....

I agree. FDR sat idly by while the extermination began. Stories were told but supposedly not believed. What really did he have to do with their salvation other than a hapless soldier finding their camps when they were liberating Europe? Everyone was shocked,...shocked, I tell you to find the camps in '44 and '45. Did FDR say "We must do this to save the poor Jews!" Hell no! In fact there was a ship that was turned away from America full of refugee's trying to escape Germany.

To turn FDR into a hero because a Democrat happened to be in office at the time is ridiculous. Today's Democrat would sell Israel down the Palestinian river in a heartbeat. I am a Baptist from the South, so I don't know of any Christians that would forsake Israel. It's our religion. Maybe they blame the Catholics as all "Christians" because of the pope situation in the '40's, but the evangelicals are 100% behind Israel. The Jews need to find out who their friends are and preach it from the pulpit. Every liberal I know is 100% for Araphat! They would stand idly by and watch the 2nd holocaust and never bat an eye.

Course, we Christians do the same thing. We vote for abortionists, sodomites, adulterers, pedophiles, liars, you name it, because "daddy and grandpa said so".

Then there's the union member that smokes, hunts, collects guns, believes in prayer and God, loves his country, fights in the military, etc, but votes Democrat because he separates his political life from his personal life. Then he bitches and moans because they won't sell him a gun at Wall Mart, can't smoke in the restaurant, hates vegetarians, wants prayer back in school, hates France, doesn't understand why his boy doesn't have a Kevlar vest in Iraq, and the world is just "goin ta hell right before his eyes!" I tell him it's the Democrats and he spits his "Red Man" on the ground and blames Bush.

Its like Alec Baldwin telling O'Reilly the only reason he is a Dim is because his Father was a Dim. His Father was a teacher so he was "wise" to Alec. My Father was a teacher, too, but he would have disowned me if I told him I was a Republican just because he was! Now you tell me which father was wiser?!!

It was great seeing you today. This was a GREAT event and I hope more FReepers can attend next year's event.

ALL FREEPERS, Get to www.libertyfilmfestival.com and order all the dvd's or download (many) of the movies available. I especially recommend: "In the Face of Evil: Reagan's War in Word and Deed," "WMD: The Murderous Reign of Saddam Hussein," (be prepared with a box of tissue), "Michael and Me" (Larry Elders' documentary about the 2nd Amendment), and "Brainwashing 101" (about political correctness gone amuck on American college campuses).

Someone I met there was just smiling as he looked around the auditorium and said, "in LA I feel I'm autistic (being conservative in this bastion of liberalism) attending an autistic convention -- so I'm not alone afterall!" LOL!

I knew exactly what he was talking about!

EVERYONE, Get thee to www.libertyfilmfestival.com and download or order the dvd's to ANY of these fine movies. I recommend: "In the Face of Evil: Reagan's War in Word and Deed," "WMD: The Murderous Reign of Saddam Hussein" (be prepared with a box of Kleenex), "Michael and Me" (Larry Elders' documentary about the 2nd Amendment), and "Brainwashing 101" (about political correctness gone amuck on American college campuses). Good viewing -- go get them FReepers!

remember the scene in one of the Naked Gun 2 1/2 when
Frank Drebin was the guest at a White House dinner
hosted by George H.W. Bush, with Barbara, Sununu, etc.--
(lookalike actors)
and it degenerates into a Three Stooges-inspired mess
where the First Lady is pushed over, attacked by a lobster, etc. (and the Prez doesn't even seem to notice)

and in the same movie, if I remember right, Frank is
seen dining in a restaurant with pictures of Famous
Disaters on the wall. We see:

--The Titanic
--The Hindenburg
--1988 Democratic Nominee Michael Dukakis
:)

Tell you what I haven't seen any other group of folks do so much fo so many throughout the world and here at home and with no thought of the cost to themselves. Obviously you did not live through either the Dust Bowl or the Great Depression. Perhaps you need to be a bit more humble and quit [ainting with such a broad brush....unless of course you are just a rat in disguise and then you can go vote for Kerry and leave us alone
