A black pen. BUT people say he used a white pen to write with. I think the black pen reflected light and he moved it fast so there was a video artifact giving it a squarish look.
The paper on the podiuim though, I think he may have reached down under the podium and pulled out a piece of paper with his right hand and put it on the desk.
The black pen could have concealed notes of course in a hollow casing. But we will just sound nuts with that one.
It was against the rules for him to bring his own pen on stage. Probably for that reason that people can smuggle in cheat sheets.
Fox has a close up front view and it is definately a pen, I would love to be able to say otherwise, but I would be lying. It was a pen
It just doesnt make any sense that kerry would pull a black pen out of his jacket and five seconds later be seen writing only with a white pen the entire debate.
Sorry but Lurch could conceal a small army in the palm of his oversized mitts, I still havent seen a hi res close up side view and/or an overhead view.
In my mind something doesnt quite add up.
For all anyone knows it was a black pen with crib notes inside. Not that much of a stretch and a perfect cover.
He didnt write with the black pen at all, cause it was a dummy. it's actually not far fetched, ask any creative kid wanting to cheat on tests.

I am just not sure that that close up syncs up with what is happening with these pics. What is seen in these pics is definitely not a pen IMHO.
Turns out it was a permission slip from Jacques ChIraq
Possible...but I still have a hard time believing that the pics in post #20 are the result of refelcted light.
This is exactly what Kerry wants, the attention drawn to him, and most everyone here seems willing to go along with the charade by continualy talking about this. Kerry doesn't have any good ideas (look at what he SAID in the debate), so he needs some other tactic to garner the spotlight. Seems to be working fine if you ask me.
Regardless of whether Kerry did or didn't pull out "something" at the beginning of the debate, President Bush looked tired, confused, irritated, but mostly beatable. Doesn't say much for the President if he can't keep Kerry on the defense. There's certainly enough material on Kerry to keep him backpedeling for years.
Please post the elusive 'close up front view' and let us decide
It was a pic of Tahreza.
Nekkid.
One would think that something like that would unnerve a person to the point where they are suffering such psychological trauma that they can't think straight.
But that's just me.
MGY
That is the way I remember it also - he unfolded something.
It was Senator Karry, in the Debate Hall, with the Pen.
Please post the close up front view so we can also have a Clue.
Oops. Karry = Kerry
You are correct, an image like that a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. What I forgot to add is that Kerry was trying to show it to GWB and make him totally lose it.
What's sad about this whole affair is that if Bush did this, the media would be all over this calling him a cheater.
They asked the White House for comments, and they refused. There is no doubt in my mind that a Democratic Administration would have their attack dogs all over this.
I think Bush is reluctant to even respond to this because he knows how the MSM would react. Pure BS.
As you can clearly see, the paper moves back and to the left.
Again, back and to the left... back and to the left...
/evilgrin
Ive looked at this pretty close, its easy to use the slider to move it frame by frame. I started out thinking there was something in his left hand. With the new picture it is a black pen for sure. But toward the end when the flash goes off. That is a paper. But Im pretty sure he used his right hand to reach for the paper underneath the podium and put it on top to use. His right hand seems to disapper for a while to reach for the paper.
It makes sense. Reach for your pen, then reach for the paper you need to right on. In front of so many people it just seems less and less likely he was pulling a fast one because it is too easy to see him reach in his jacket, and it is to easy to see the paper above the podium. I suppose he could be sneaking notes with his right hand but it does look like he reached below to get it. That could have been a ruse I suppose. And below is where they kept the paper for them isnt it? And of course the black pen could have concealed rolled up cheat sheet. But we are really stretching here and I think it serves us ill now. IF new evidence comes forth, We should jump on it. Ones things for sure, we will be watching the MoFo like a hawk on the next debates! Kinda fun, sorta.
Like to see the pen. The reason they had writing implements provided was so nobody could use a "rigged" pen. I'm not saying that it was rigged, just saying it's possible. Easy enough to have a small single line liquid crystal display that shows text that is received by the pen. Again, not saying that is what it was, but the point of the agreement about not bringing your own pen is to eliminate doubt.
I wouldn;t trust kerry as far as I could throw him.
And thus the Kerry cur still lies.
