What was the final verdict on what Kerry took out of his pocket before the debate started?
The final word, lost to most Freepers sadly, is that nobody cares and they better get their arses in gear and work towards a victory tomorrow, rather than dissect yesterday's loss.

I believe the final conclusion was: A white flag.
The final word appears to be that Fox has shown a still shot from the front of the podium that shows Kerry with a pen; it is unclear how this shot fits in chronologically with the backstage video that shows Kerry removing an object from his pocket.
It was his U.N. talking points.
It was a pen, but did you read this part?
"And its a bit depressing that this country is now willing to accept blatant flouting of debate rules, because it was only a pen. Kerry was specifically forbidden to do this, by rules to which he agreed after much negotiationbut he did it anyway, apparently without even thinking."
He still cheated....
He was still forbidden to use even a pen. He still cheated.
I agree. I saw several videos that did not match up to the explaination of the black pen picture.
It was a pen, I saw the video over and over and it was a pen
The side view was the white starched cuff of his shirt
I'm glad that you are certain... It was just way too easy to think that Kerry WAS cheating... Again!
Actually it was a number 2 pencil, with a white flag attached to it, for taking the global test: in French of course.
A pen I guess.
It was a debate tactic, and if found to have pulled out a pen, Kerry would have had a joke or story to explain why. It would have put Kerry in the forefront right at the start of the debate. What would they have done if they found out, disqualify him? Come on people, get back to reality.
Besides, knowing how compulsive Bush (or was that James Baker?) is about following the rules, someone on Kerry's team (or maybe Kerry himself) may have decided to push the rules in hopes of having Bush see this "act" and get distracted by it. Given Bush's performance in the debate, it may have worked.
I saw the frontal shot on Fox; it was a pen.
Kerry's people said it was a pen...and folks in the media just took that.
But I seem to remember him unfolding something when he pulled it out of his jacket.
supposidly it was a pen, but... did he have notes rolled up inside that pen? hmmmm
Everyones saying its a pen. I dont buy it!
