Iran goes nuclear
Jewish World Review ^ | Oct. 6, 2004 | Paul Greenberg

Here's how the deal works, or rather how it doesn't:

Iran continues to play games with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which continues to pass resolutions demanding that Iran end its nuclear program - resolutions that Iran continues to ignore.

In the latest round of play, the mullahs have announced that they won't honor an earlier promise to suspend their nuclear programs. Is anybody really surprised?

[...snip...]

Not one, not two, but three European foreign ministers - Britain's Jack Straw, Germany's Joschka Fischer and my own personal favorite, the sniffy Dominique de Villepin of France - had made a pilgrimage to the Land of the Ayatollahs. Now they were returning waving the usual scrap of paper. For they had a solemn promise that Iran would "suspend (its) uranium-enrichment and reprocessing activities . . . ."

O frabjous day! Calloo! Callay! You'd have thought it was the Versailles peace treaty being proclaimed, and indeed the agreement with the ayatollahs would shortly prove about as sound.

[...snip...]

Oh, all mimsy were the borogroves, and the mome raths outgrabe! Or as another writer in the Guardian put it more prosaically:

"Iran's agreement to allow unlimited inspections of its nuclear facilities and to suspend its uranium enrichment program marks a tremendous success for European diplomacy. . . . To date (America's) polarizing, aggressive pressure tactics have mostly made a difficult problem worse. Europe demonstrated yesterday that there is a different, more effective way. And it is not the American way."

Yes, Calloo! Callay! Ni-i-i-ce axis of evil - so reasonable, so trustworthy, so easily tamed if you have any sort of talent at all for diplomacy, old chap. All the voices of Old Europe sounded ecstatic. And superior as ever.

They're not so happy now that the mullahs have made their announcement . . . but they're still every bit as obnoxious!

What? You mean the gravitas that comes along with being an European diplomat failed to sway a bunch of hubristic mullahs. I'm shocked!

Peace in our time. Will we ever learn?

If we have kept our eyes on the ball, and continued to: 1) track Bin Laden & Al Zawary, 2) Keep tracking the flow of money that support Islamic terrorism out of Saudi Arabia, 3) Keep the sanction against Iraq, and Iran WE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A MUCH BETTER POSITION TODAY TO ASK FOR WORLD SUPPORT TO STOP IRAN FROM GETTING ITS NUCLEAR BOMB. To me, I don’t care if Korea gets its nuclear bomb. THEY ARE NOT MOSLEMS; hence, you can rationalize with them!

The Nuclear inspector general (Al Barady?) resembles us with a doctor who has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth as he instructs a patient to stop smoking!

If you remember, as we conducted our attack on the terrorists in Afghanistan, we had Most of the world's approval, including many Moslem nations and ALL the European nations. It does help to reflect, and correct a misguided action. As usual, I will get all kinds of knee jerk hate responses from my fellow Republicans, but I invite you to reflect first. Our biggest enemy is organized hateful Islam. If we don’t think of our mission in this simplistic way, we will fail. It is a great mistake to focus on a dictator or a communist, the focus must always be HOW TO COMBAT OR REDUCE THE ISLAMIC PREACHING OF HATE AND EXPANSION OF THAT RELIGION!

As we know, it has been three years since 9/11 and the proselyte of hate filled Islamic ideologies in our government run prisons are still going on, and Saudi Arabia is still free to fund and build thousands of mosques in the US without allowing one single church to built in their country. If people on this forum do not understand that one single illogical and unfair Saudi thinking, then we will always have Islamic terrorists. I certainly do not expect the liberals to understand what I am talking about here, but I urge my conservative friends to think of our enemy as an enemy motivated by religion superiority and incremental expansionism.

We can FORCE the so called democracy on Iraq, and get NOTHING in return as far as the hate ideologies. ONLY the mutual understanding of equality between religions, and the freedom to believe or not to believe, or to convert without getting killed, or to build churches or synagogues as people want in any place on earth, only that approach can lead us to peaceful coexistence and reduce the Islamic inspired terrorism.
