John O'Neill and Buzz Patterson spoke in Illinois and I was there

Last night, before the V-P debate, I was privileged to go to a book signing and speech by John O'Neill and Buzz Patterson. If you could all see John O'Neill in person, there would be no doubt in your minds that he is the most honest man around. He and Buzz Patterson said they were surprised that the Bush campaign wanted nothing to do with them. John O'Neill donated his kidney to his wife in January. He was contacted by Admiral Hoffman about doing something about John Kerry. O'Neill said that everyone in the unit would all drink out of the same barrel of water for unity, all except John Kerry. He said that John Kerry was told by his superior officers to leave after 3 months. They were worried about his safety because he was so disliked by the men. He was never one of them. One time someone caught him sitting in the mess hall alone at night, with his face covered with green and black paint, talking into his camera about his made up adventures of the day. They decided they had to do something because of the lies he told about all of them when he came home. He was not discharged until 2001, and O'Neill said they didn't know why because it is locked in the papers Kerry won't release. O'Neill said that the Kerry campaign has hired a busload of protestors to follow him around and disrupt his speaking engagements. They weren't there last night because it was a private group. He said they raised 4 million dollars last weekend when they asked for more money. They will be running two more commercials before the election. O'Neill said that Kerry's version of the Rasmussen story is a total fabrication. He said they all circled around the swift boat that had hit the mine and John Kerry ran away. They are worried about the effect a Kerry presidency would have on the troops. It was an honor to meet these 2 brave men.

He spoke in downtown Chicago during the day. I went to the event in Lake Bluff which is north of Chicago.

It was arranged throught the Independent Republican Women's Club. One of the founders of the group, has a daughter who works for the publishing company. She was the one that did the research for the book. The daughter asked O'Neill if he would speak before her mom's group.

I saw O'Neil in a discussion and it was great. He said if Kerry was a republican, they would be doing the same thing because it is simply the truth about John Kerry, only then they would have Sorro's money backing them up!

O'Neill said the first 5 donations they received were from classmates of Kerry from Yale.

"He and Buzz Patterson said they were surprised that the Bush campaign wanted nothing to do with them."

I'm not, really. To maintain the appearance of following the letter of the law, you have to also keep it. While the 527s are a loophole, you know that if Bush actively supported the Swift Boat Veterans, he'd be crucified. No matter that the dems are expoiting them furiously...that wouldn't matter in their dim elitist mind. The law only applies to others as far as the dems are concerned. In other words, the laws are to keep others within its limits so the dems can exploit it without retribution. God does not honor that kind of thinking or action. I applaud Bush for trying to maintain this campaign in an honorable way. It's very frustrating to see the other side do the things they do, but to actively join them in it is to become like them.

I think Bush feels that if the Lord wants him re-elected, he will be...so he's trusting in Him. I think that Bush will be re-elected, but the job is not done, just getting him back in. We need to keep pressure on the obstructionist dems so that Bush can get his judges through. When the public doesn't support him by making an outcry against the dems for the filibusters, then we leave Bush to do it single-handedly. I hope that many, and I do mean MANY of the dems doing the filibustering get defeated this time...Daschle, others! They need a wake-up call to see that they are NOT serving the public interest! This is the year to do it. The next cycle will be too late, as senators serve 6 year terms.

Sounds like a great experience. That's usually the proof: the experience of normal people meeting normal people.

Wow... there is a Republican Women's Club in Liberal Illinois? ;) Hmm, I guess I would have looked out of place, since I am a man... ;)

I envy you meeting John O'Neill!

We got to see O'Neill and Patterson in San Francisco September 9. Good event.

Pic of my friend Theresa with John O'Neill

Interesting. Wonder if they had Judith Droz Keyes, widow of a man who served with Kerry, cry her eyes out to the Chicago press as she did in San Francisco about how honorable Kerry served. (And coincidently enough a DNC delegate)

All the more reason to attend, methinks- go where the girls are, I say.

He was not discharged until 2001, and O'Neill said they didn't know why because it is locked in the papers Kerry won't release.

This is confusing. In Unfit for Command, O'Neill cites a chronology of Kerry's service provided by the Navy (at Kerry's request). It says he was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant in 1978.

So how to explain the discrepancy?

Surprisingly the leftist San Jose Mercury News (Knight Ridder) mentioned it, but of course the local TV media didn't.

Someone in the group asked him about the discharge by Clinton in 2001 and that was his response.

Ah, then surely bait for brownie points on their part since they know Conservatives tend to read more and tend to do a lot of it online.
