Friday Polling Update
The Baby Seal Club ^ | 10-08-2004 | Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

Posted on 10/08/2004 12:53:00 PM PDT by Yashcheritsiy

Well, there is quite a bit of news to report concerning the polls today as we head into the weekend and prepare for the second presidential debate tonight. The present polls will be about the last one to feature post-Debate #1 data (other than a few scraps that come in over the weekend). Over the weekend, all the firms will be gathering their data for the round of post-Debate #2 polls that will hit the airwaves starting Tuesday. If Bush acquits himself well tonight, which I think he will despite his last performance, the polls we've been seeing this week should be the nadir of his numbers, and ought to start climbing back up again. As per my previous statements, I will be ignoring the Zogby interactive numbers that are out today. At the Kerry supporting Electoral-vote.com, the Votemaster uses these Zogby numbers, and this gives a false impression of Kerry support that really isn't there if we use the scientific polls alone (he currently has Kerry leading in the electoral college 280-239, in large part due to the Zogby numbers and the in-house Democrat polling numbers from several firms). One thing about Electoral-vote.com is that the webmaster there, if multiple polls from a single state come out on the same day, will use the one giving Kerry the most support, which presents a left-shifted view of how the polls really are trending. I've been quite open in saying that I think the first debate hurt Bush, but I don't think it hurt him as badly as is being spun by the Left. Anywise, on to the polls....

Well I know I have enjoyed reading your daily updates. I would request that the FR admin work this out as your work is appreciated.

Maybe donating members who feel as I do should ping the admin.

You need to go to thesealclub.blogspot.com for the reason. There is an issue with FR administration.

I don't think most here on Free Republic bury their heads
We know it's gonna be tight but the thing is a lot of chicken littles who wanna panic every poll and a lot of trolls who wanna stir things up make it impossible to see that

I'll miss your posts too!
BTW - I read your long explanation on your webpage and I think you could have left out the last long paragraph near the end. Up until then I was with you, and you had me convinced I should write the admins and JimRob to ask them to let you post in the main areas. But then it seemed like you let your anger get the better of you, and went a bit overboard in your criticism of the admins and in second-guessing their reasons/intentions. And that made it difficult for me to just forward a pointer to your essay to them, accompanied by a "Yeah! Yeah! Read this! What he said!"

But anyway, just my 2 cents worth. Thanks for your hard work. I'm saving a link to your page. I've forwarded links to you to others recently.

Yeah. I just read it. Arrogant, self-focussed twit.

Good riddance. He can go pimp his blog elsewhere.

I for one really enjoy reading your updates. I understand that this is a marathon and some weeks will look better than others. I feel like Bush is in a strong position, and that his support is diminished by the MSM and Kerry's is fluffed up. I expect all the polls to be wrong on election day, and for Bush to do even better than expected.

I've been noticing your postings here in the last few weeks and I now check your site at least once a day. Your poll commentaries are very good. I don't mind getting the polling truth, even if it hurts. Keep up your good analysis work.

BTW, your post is still in the News/Activism section and you haven't been banned. I think it should stay in this section, along with Dale's poll analysis etc, unless they open up a new Polls section (which someone asked for).
