V A N I T Y - Need help with sKerry quote from debates
The town-hall debate | Today | Trident/Delta

Posted on 10/09/2004 6:21:52 PM PDT by Trident/Delta

I apologize for the vanity.

I was reading a CNN review of the debates. If the quote they attribute to Kerry is correct, then it is a smoking-gun bombshell.

During the repartee regarding Supreme Court appointments, did sKerry really say "I would look for someone who would interpret the Constitution according to the law"

Excuse me?!?!

Ah, Lurch, it is supposed be the other way around.

Can this be confirmed????

Semper Curious

Mr. Kerry Thank you, Charlie.

A few years ago, when he came to office, the president said, these are his words: What we need are some good conservative judges on the courts. And he said also that his two favorite justices are Justice Scalia and Justice Thomas. So you get a pretty good sense of where he's heading if he were to appoint somebody.

Now, here's what I believe. I don't believe we need a good conservative judge and I don't believe we need a good liberal judge. I don't believe we need a good judge of that kind of definition on either side. I subscribe to the Justice Potter Stewart standard. He was a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. And he said the mark of a good judge, a good justice, is that when you're reading their decision, their opinion, you can't tell if it's written by a man or woman, a liberal or a conservative, a Muslim, a Jew or a Christian. You just know you're reading a good judicial decision.

What I want to find if I am privileged to have the opportunity to do it and the Supreme Court of the United States is at stake in this race, ladies and gentlemen, the future of things that matter to you in terms of civil rights: what kind of Justice Department you'll have, whether we'll enforce the law. Will we have equal opportunity? Will women's rights be protected? Will we have equal pay for women, which is going backwards? Will a woman's right to choose be protected? These are our constitutional rights.

And I want to make sure we have judges who interpret the Constitution of the United States according to the law. '

I believe he did! He also lied through his teeth when he said he would have no litmus test. BULLSHIT! (Will I get banned for that?). Kerry will impose an absolute litmus test and that litmus test will be that any judicial appointment of his will be absolutely, positively, 100% pro-abortion.

John “Irish” Kerry, confessed war criminal, is a BALD-FACE LIAR.

As a total coincidence, I was just now watching the tape of the debate CUED TO THE EXACT PART YOU DESCRIBE!.

(And the answer is, yes, he did say that).

I'm (almost) sure that he simply misspoke, but wait ten minutes and we'll see if he changes his tune ;'}

Kerry suffers from sequential dementia. I voted for it before I voted against it. During the 2nd debate: "Its a question of when, not if, I mean if, not when, or do I?"

hmmm.... interpret constitution according to the laws... laws according to the constitution... oh what the hell its all the same. /sarcasm

John “Irish” Kerry

I agree with everything else, please lose the "Irish" since he's NOT, the name was changed here by his Jewish grandfather, I believe, he has NO Irish blood, and I, and many other Irish Americans, consider it an insult...

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” Norman Thomas co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union

I get the feeling that this was said as a promise not a threat.

“When is a litmus test not a litmus test? When John Kerry says it isn't.

The Massachusetts senator just announced that if he ever has the chance to nominate a Supreme Court justice, he will make sure that justice pledges to uphold Roe v. Wade.

p.s. FormerDodger, I know, hence the use of “”.

Holy s**t. get off the abortion crap. We have the fate of the untire country at risk with skerry. I am anti-abortion but there are dozens of issues far more important to our future than that. Sorry, but one-issue folks drive me NUTZ!
