CNSNews.com Publishes Iraqi Intelligence Docs
CNSNews ^ | October 11, 2004 | David Thibault

Posted on 10/11/2004 5:41:15 AM PDT by Quilla

When CNSNews.com published an article Monday, Oct. 4, entitled, "Exclusive: Saddam Possessed WMD, Had Extensive Terror Ties," we decided against publishing all 42 pages of the Iraqi intelligence documents in our possession and on which the article was based.

We published only the first page, fearing that if more were made widely available on the Internet, they might end up being altered or otherwise manipulated. We offered credentialed news organizations and counter-terrorism experts the opportunity to view and receive copies of the documents so that they might check for themselves on the authenticity of the documents and judge their importance in the debate over whether Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction and/or had ties to international terrorist organizations.

Several news organizations did just that. But in light of other assertions on Wednesday, widely reported by the mainstream media, that Saddam did not pose any significant threat prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, we felt it was time to publish as many of the Iraqi intelligence documents as possible.

What follows are copies of 24 of the 42 pages that are in our possession. Pages 21 through 26 were not published because they contain a list of terrorists trained at a camp belonging to the Iraqi Intelligence Directorate. CNSNews.com hopes to glean more information about the individuals on this list and provide updates in the future on their activities and whereabouts. Pages 29 through 40 were excluded because they replicate, though in a different person's handwriting, earlier documents.

Upon clicking on the individual pages of Arabic documents, readers will have an opportunity to click on the unedited English translation of those documents. We hope this serves to further illuminate a very important element of the ongoing debate.

Pages 2-12: Jan. 25, 1993 memo from the Iraqi Intelligence Service to Saddam Hussein, outlining the existing or developing relationships between Iraq and terrorist organizations.

I am glad to see Greg isn't going to let Senator Lugar get by with his stupid comment.

When I was growing up, Lugar was a neighbor. I have always liked him and his wife. I have been a defender of his for a long time--not any more. He is a good argument for term limits.

You're more than welcome, ScaniaBoy.

That Prague connection is perplexing because they stand by their intelligence that Atta was there. Yet Atta's cell phone was used in the US a few days prior to his being seen in Prague, which could be easily explained. The CIA seems to be divided on this matter so we'll probably never know.

Anyway, interesting connections between the 9/11 hijackers and anthrax...

I always liked him, too. When my brother was in college, he took a class Lugar taught...said he was the smartest man he ever met.

I personally think we are dealing with someone who is getting a bit too old for his position, and cannot think strategically anymore. I's a shame, but I hope he retires after this term. I would like him to retire rather than to be beaten in a primary, as I am certain that there are people looking for someone to run against him after this episode.

Old Media won't touch it; hope the administration does though.

That photo was taken in APRIL 2003.... I remember it from during the early days of the war. (i.e., it was not taken in September as the author indicates it MAY have been taken.)

You're assuming that the Duelfer report contradicts these papers. Now, clearly the headlines about the Duelfer report contradict these papers. Have you read the actual report, however?

most seem to come from the early 90's, which, at that time, no one (even the peace activists/Dems/traitors) denies Saddam had WMD's.

The thing that's more germane about the early 90's docs is that they demonstrate links to OBL.

The English translations of these documents, and their ramifications, are chilling.

Particularly the lists of trained terrorists... which include in their "resumes" indications of terrorist actions they participated in.

Memo:

"The graveness of this current election requires that we ignore these documents. Please remember to place your loyalty to John Kerry above loyalty to journalistic ethics. Thank you. "

Also, just because CBS only has access to docs referencing the early 1990's doesn't mean our Gov't / Military intelligence doesn't have docs that indicate more current and/or more dangerous information.

I've always believed our intelligence services know 100 times more than what the MSM knows, and I want to keep it that way. When our President says we need to go to war because of intelligence info, I trust that he knows things I don't know. And I wouldn't have it any other way, despite the MSM's belief that they are entitled to know everything about everything.

And for the next debate, I WISH President Bush would state that every other intelligence agency in the world thought Saddam had WMD, not just ours. When he says "my opponent read the same intelligence I did and he thought Saddam had WMD" - I wish he would remind the TV audience that it wasn't JUST THE UNITED STATES (i.e., not just George W. Bush) who thought Saddam had WMD. No one can fault GWB specifically for the same intelligence all the other countries' intelligence agencies had.

America is a headline nation. Half the news printed has a headline that contradicts the article.

Bears repeating:

"The Deufler report indicates that, among other things, in the late 90's, early part of this century, Saddam was testing WMD's on human beings, and also was trying to bribe UN inspectors."

I was speculatin' that with a need for 20+ no-fail suiciders, a little added "incentive' and "focus" might have been provided by Mr. Atta if he intentionally infected his partners, making their choice death by anthrax or death by "glorious" cataclysm.

I hope these are real, but if they are, and were in the possession of the government, then why in the world did they not put these out to the public themselves? Or is this supposed to be the October surprise?

Folks, it is VITAL THIS GETS OUT.

The original article says it is likely the Bush administration is unaware of these docs because of the swarm of documents they are wading through; this just happened to be caught by the source if he is telling the truth. We have got to get these sent to people in the know!
