Union Thugs Target Republicans
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 11, 2004 | John Fund

We may be about to experience an election unlike any we've seen in a while. The Florida recount in 2000 raised passions and blood pressure and featured some demonstrations on both sides, but there was no violence. This year, lots of groups are jostling with each other to monitor the elections in battleground states. For its part, the AFL-CIO has promised to dispatch thousands of election monitors to battleground states to watch for any hint of trouble at polling places. From the initial reports, they may be the ones for have to be watched as potential troublemakers.

Last week, in Orlando, Fla., approximately 60 union protestors stormed and ransacked the local Bush-Cheney headquarters causing considerable damage and injuring one campaign staffer, who suffered a broken wrist.

Conservative people like me, who live in liberal areas (Boulder, CO), are often afraid to put bumper stickers for Republican candidates on our vehicles because of the risk of "tolerant" vandalism.

Put an NRA sticker right next to the GOP-candidate sticker and that should serve as somewhat of a deterrent.

Some bozo has been putting up Kerry signs in the parks here in Longmont, Co. On my street it's ALL Kerry. Of course there's teachers on all sides of me so I'm totally outnumbered.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about this kind of thing. This is my first general election since moving to Illinois after having lived Indiana all my life---I'm not sure what to expect on election day.

Though I might be called insensitive and boorish, If I were at a campaign Headquarters and mafia union types forced their way onto private property and attacked me, I would just start swinging my wooden bat, until they left or got the better of me. I know, I know, I am intolerant but what can I say...They might win, but at least a few would be worse off because of it...

It's exactly because of stories like this that my hubby doesn't want me to poll watch on election day with my daughter.

I'm not sure, now, either, but I don't think anything bad will happen where I live, even though it's pretty strongly Democrat.

The second amendment helps clear my way to the polling place as well as rid myself of any physical threats to me and my family.

Union Thugs beware!
