I don't understand what the dynamic is, but there is SOMETHING that is motivating a small LOUD group to visiously demonize Keyes, and repeat all of the talking dem talking points from within the Republican party, as well as here on FR. When it's pointed out then they often acuse those pointing it out as being "Keyes Cool-Aid Drinkers".

I don't understand it. It is not logical to demonize your own candidate after he's won the nomination, and support the opposition by hitting your candidate from both sides. There has to be an alterior motivation and I don't know what it is. I think at least SOME of it comes from the log-cabin republicans.

But it's always the same small group who get on just about every Keyes thread and begin aggressively shouting down anyone who supports the man... and VICIOUSLY, too.

What? Keyes won the nomination? I must have missed him in the primary then. My bad.

I will now apologize for anything I may have mentioned related to Keyes doing and saying stupid things.

I try to be intelligently vociferous, not vicious. And I think vocal opposition to Keyes and his sorry excuse for a campaign is a legitimate position for people who would like to see sane and stable Republican candidates get elected, instead of being swept out to sea in the tidal wave of Keyes' obnoxious rants. Keyes' behavior has been so appalling that he's freed up Obama's time to run around the country drumming up money and votes for Kerry/Edwards, while Keyes stays "home" and does further damage to other Republican candidates who are actually electable. Why shouldn't I be opposed to Keyes?

You are a very observant individual, and your remarks on this thread are excellent.

Correctomundo!

Dr. Alan Keyes - The last true conservative today's mainstream GOP wishes would just go away.

Good post.

I've been trying to understand the anti-Keyes folks' motivation for a while now, but it always ends up pointing in such an illogical, even crazy direction that it seems almost impossible such thought systems would exist, especially within the "conservative circle" of FR.

The motivation is that Republicans, quite sensibly, don't want this loon to damage the state party to the point where Illinois can be written off for the next several election cycles.
